Did you get a scholarship?
I am still a little numb. I am valedictorian, have high scores(36 ACT superscore), play 3 instruments with 10 different groups, and work 20 hours a week, all hoping in the end that staying up until midnight every night would pay off. I can’t even hope to get into a school like Duke or Northwestern if I got waitlisted at Case. Sorry I didn’t have time to drive 4 hours to visit. This sounds pathetic to complain like this, but I need to vent somewhere.
@Launching So I am assuming that your son has already heard back from all of his respective colleges and is not satisfied with the outcome. A definite option is the gap year–it appears to be daunting at first, but many intellectually curious kids (like yours) use it to pursue an educationally enriching opportunity outside of the classroom while also putting a new, fresh energy into college admissions. There are many on CC and Reddit who have found great results with a gap year!
were you guys accepted for a major? my acceptance letter doesn’t mention one.
also congrats to everyone who got in!! & for those of you who didn’t, it took me eight Ls to finally get some good news; don’t give up!
Sorry all - I will quit whining. @cj12345 I feel your pain. @Benji3025 , he is still waiting to hear from Northwestern and Princeton, but those felt like the extreme reaches, you know? I am starting to wonder about the gap year… Congrats to all who got in.
@cj12345 Don’t let this decison taint your expectations for the ones yet to come. They waitlist a ton of qualified students. I’m sure you will hear good news next week! My DD is waiting to hear back from Duke as well.

accepted with 35 ACT and 3.96 UW gpa!! I’m OOS and demonstrated interest - went to the interview and visited campus. also got a 23k scholarship!!
For all that didn’t get accepted or are waitlisted, have faith and everything will work out in the end <3

This whole college application experience has been totally bizarre.
Did you get a direct email with a link??? We got NO email, nothing and are freaking out–please advise–Case is a top choice
@hopewhite25 Thanks I keep telling myself that. I will be fine tomorrow, but right now I am processing everything. At least I have a mountain of homework to take my mind off this :))

IMHO… Avoid a GAP yr if all possible.

For all of those worrying about college acceptances, if you are truly determined then I’d suggest going to a local / community college for the first year then applying again as a transfer student
