Anyone attending Case’s Diversity Weekend?
Does anyone know if your acceptance chance will increase if you change your major? (I applied to for bio medical engineering)
Case Western is an open door admittance so I don’t know if changing your desired major will have any effect. They are not impacted.
I am sure that Case does not admit 100% people that whose desired major is Biomedical Engineering…I am sure they try to have an assortment of majors.
If you were getting 500s in math and 800 on English SAT and said you wanted to be an English major but then decided to be an Engineer you could do that, but probably you would not do well as you may not have the math background needed. Or if you had 800 Math and 500 English and said you wanted to be an English major but secretly wanted to be an Engineer, they probably wouldn’t admit you because you are not strong in English.
Anyone know last year’s waitlist acceptance percentage?
Yes, if you look at https://case.edu/ir/sites/case.edu.ir/files/2018-03/2017-2018-CDS.pdf in section C2
From 2017-2018
Offered place on wait list: 7,178
Number accepting place on wait list: 4,252
Accepted from list: 586
586/4252 = ~13%
I spoke with admissions staff while at the admitted student program last week. My question was specific to housing, specifically forced triples due to oversubscription. I was told that CWRU accepts a smaller percentage of applicants than historically fills the entering class, and offers a larger number of waitlist spots than other schools. Their preference is to get back the yes/no responses and pull from the waitlist through April (assuming sufficient accepted students actually respond that they are declining their offer of admission, and then in May filling in the rest. They carefully monitor stats so as to have the lowest possibility of having too many kids enroll. So, there is hope for waitlisted students, and good luck to you all.
We have been getting emails on weekly basis on our intention…
I’m ready to submit my deposit now!
I’m pretty sure I’ll enroll, but I’m not ready to make a deposit at this time.
I’ve made other plans. Please close my application file.
I’m still making up my mind. I might need some more information from CWRU.
I have already sent in my deposit!..
Admissions office is definitely trying to gauge the interest level of admitted students, so make sense it will start to look at the waitlist when it has received feedbacks from the admitted students pool.
Really hope that I will be accepted off the waitlist. I will literally commit the day they accept me lol!
@thespiandad I wonder if Case’s concern for housing is from the days that
- You had to live on campus (unless you commuted from home)
- The last of the baby boomers (my class of 1982) had so many kids enrolled that they had to put them in a hotel (The Circle Inn) and fraternities
Has anyone wrote any LOCIs for Case?
Our son’s financial aid package at Case was very good-only one other school beat it (Syracuse where he was accepted). It kills us that we know this but he’s waitlisted. Knowing that they waitlisted 40% of their applicants in 2017 killed my son. He LOVED Case on our 3 visits and really felt at home on the accepted students overnight. I know it’s the best fit but can’t make it happen for him unfortunately. Spending weekend at Syracuse to see program in more depth.
Anyone accepted off the waitlist yet?
- When would I hear if I am accepted off the waitlist?
Starting April 15, but offers are often extended in the final week of April and throughout the month of May.
is anyone off the waitlist yet??? what is going on? I’m going to call CWRU and ask when they begin releasing decisons
Let me know what they say! The wait is killing me :((
please let us know!!! it will save me a ton of time constantly checking over my emails and this forum, lol
Did CWRU get back to anyone yet?
We are still waiting, too. Case is my son’s #1 with U of Rochester a close 2nd. Slightly better f/a with Case. Fingers crossed that our kids get a “yes” soon!
