Admitted with $30.5k scholarship/yr. Nowhere near COA (at all), but also my fault because I applied to exactly zero merit scholarships.

Wow… I think I got waitlisted, because I was an international who applied for FA, but what about domestic applicants who got waitlisted?

Looks like Case is suffering the case of Tufts Syndrome or they’re trying to protect their yield as one poster has already mentioned!

@robbob, probably because you applied to engineering and your arent a minority? IDk i am not the admission officer. Maybe if you didnt have interesting ECs?

Shocked that son was waitlisted!!

34 ACT 4.165 WGPA SAT II Math 780

Awesome ec’s, great recs., and essays.

I am sensing a pattern here. All the waitlisted posts have amazing stats.

Son did visit last year, but never contacted them after that.

Can you say “TUFTS SYNDROME”!!!

Decision: Waitlisted

Objective:
SAT: 2070 (740 Math)
Unweighted GPA: 4.0/4.0
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 4/340
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: showed literally zero interests (i applied for the hell of it); yield protection

^definitely

I am absolutely baffled and feel horrendously humiliated. I live in CA. I have a 2300. Taken 10 APs. UW: 3.96. Weighted: 4.32ish. (SAT Bio 800, SAT MATH II 800, SAT CHEM 800, SAT PHYSICS 780)…
—taking 5APs more currently.

Rank 10/700
Lots of extracurricular activities, internships, community service. I literally have everything. (I don’t horde it, but I rather enjoy what I do). I also had GREAT essays and GREAT letters of rec too.

Also a NMF…

and I got WAITLISTED…I don’t get what is up with decisions nor how they make decisions at all. (DID NOT APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID)

Maybe I applied bio major (premed track). But then again, it’s Case Western…it shouldn’t have amazingly difficult program to get into, unlike WUSTL persay.

First of all, why are there 2 threads??

[] Volunteer/Community service: 150+ hours at Sunday School

[] Essays: I though they were bad. The decision letter mentioned something about my Common App essay in the PS- does that mean they actually liked it, or is it just a common thing for them to do?
[] Teacher Recommendation: Good
[] Counselor Rec: No clue

[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted at Suny University at Buffalo and University of Rochester. No rejections yet but Ivy day should be full of them.[/li] [/ul]General Comments: 28k is nowhere near the cost of attendance. I’m eligible for ~25k need-based grant, according to their NPC. Can I combine this with the scholarship? Also, when do we get financial aid packages?

Thanks guys! Those of you rejected or waitlisted: There are plenty of great schools out there. It doesn’t even matter where you go, it mostly matters what you do when you get there!!

Best of luck to all!

after seeing the stats of all those waitlisted, i feel very honored to have been waitlisted as well. i think getting accepted would have shattered my confidence a bit

@jushyosaha604-- if you go to the right where your decision is, you should see a place to pull up your fin aid pkg-- it’s up.

I cannot comment on your application, as essays and recommendations are highly subjective. But, Case’s yield last year was 13% which sucks, so they’re trying to bring that up. They may have looked at your application and been like “No way this kid is coming out here to Cleveland, and he’s using us as a safety, so there’s no point in taking him.” It’s called “yield protection” and yes, it happens.

Also, did you demonstrate interest? One way to avoid yield protection is to demonstrate interest in the school. I didn’t demonstrate any interest but I still got in somehow lol (maybe because my cousin goes there)
