[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[]Strengths: Eagle Scout Project, took advantage of the few opportunities given to me, showed dedication to my extracurriculars, tough senior course load
[]Weaknesses: scores, small high school
[]Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: showed interest, toured campus, kept in touch, sent in my application early
[]Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to a couple in state schools and still waiting for some out of states (a couple top 20s)

[/ul]General Comments: I was actually surprised I got in and really surprised I got scholarship money. I definitely liked Case Western when I toured it and the fact that I am getting 23K a year is a big plus. I’ll just wait and decide when all decisions are in.

I’m going to give you my honest opinion, and please don’t take offense as I don’t mean in any way to condemn nor criticize anyone.

It seems that people who HAVE been accepted do tend to have stats that are on the lower end of the spectrum. It seems as though Case is accepting people who they perceive have a viable chance of enrolling in their school. If you look at the people who were waitlisted, many do seem overqualified and I’m sure Case is well-aware of that too. So if you do take that into account, if CASE thinks that you might LIKELY enroll in their school (thus them achieving higher yield rate), it’s very likely that they THINK you have a lower possibility in making it into the more prestigious universities where students with higher stats go.

That being said, this is just my take. You might get into HYPMS for all you know. But I do think from an admissions viewpoint you CAN get an idea of where you stand in comparison with other applicants.

I most definitely agree ^^^. It is also the reason why they gave everyone who was accepted ridiculous amounts of merit aid. They get life is a struggle and college is expensive. So they much rather give out half scholarships and have people attend then to have no one attend. However admission at one school does not affect a decision at another school. The admission officers are different people who want different things for their incoming freshman class. I wish you luck!!!

[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Denied Stanford EA, Accepted Drexel[/li][/ul]General Comments:
From skimming this thread it looks like there were several applicants that “should” have gotten accepted based on their application but got waitlisted. Another student from my school applied early and had a similar application, though my scores were significantly better and I had a more difficult schedule, but his GPA was slightly higher. I also never visited but I did attend a consuler info sesh at my school.
