Received $28,000 per year for University Scholarship

Same here, robbob. 35 ACT, 4.52W GPA, 750 SAT IIs, 5’s on 4 APs so far, Mathletes, Robotics and Band for 4 years, other minor extracurriculars. CWRU was a safety school app for me and I am stunned I got waitlisted. Also a white guy applying for engineering.

I didn’t get an email either, which I thought was really weird, and I live in OH. I just went ahead and logged in to my cwru account, because a friend of mine told me that the email was just a generic “your decision has been made click the link to find out” type of thing. the website is: slatecwru.case.edu

[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Essays were pretty good. My EC’s were all nice and focused and I had been in them for four years+
[] Weaknesses: The numerical stats
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I really don’t know why they would be prompted to accept me, looking at everyone else’s stats… Though considering my hometown’s opportunities (or lack thereof), I was able to do some major work so
[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: So far I’ve only heard from CWRU, Drexel (accepted), and an Honors Program at a nearby CSU which I’ll probably take up (full-ride, yes please.) Still waiting on a couple of other schools though.[/li][/ul]General Comments:

While it’s admittedly nice to get some external validation, I don’t think Case and I like each other enough for a four-year commitment. Best of luck to everyone and their choices.

I applied for 3 full tuition scholarships, but I only got the University Scholarship of 28k. Have they made their decisions about those scholarships, and does that mean I didn’t get them? If so, who on CC got one?

Reflection
• Strengths: Extensive Research Experience and Research Resume, Vast musical experience, Stellar essay’s and recommendations
• Weaknesses: Unweighted GPA-9th and 10th grade killed my gpa. Since then I have taken the most rigorous courses available to me and done very well. My weighted gpa for 11th grade is a 4.0 and my weighted average for senior year thus far is over a 4.0. I think the upward trend was a strength in my application.
• Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Refer to strengths
• Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Fordham (Accepted), Tulane (Accepted), Stonybrook (Accepted), Johns Hopkins (Rejected). Still waiting on more.

Received $28,500 a year for University Scholarship

Accepted with a University Scholarship of $30,500/year. I realize these decisions definitely take demonstrated interest into account, but no one can say with certainty that they didn’t get in because of yield protection. My stats (2340, top 3%) aren’t perfect, but they’re above Case’s averages, and I didn’t show very much interest besides talking to an admissions rep. at one college fair.
