“Reading a CC thread has actually helped me feel less anxious and less worthless” Yup, if they waitlisted a 2-time Siemens semifinalist and ISEF finalist, I have nothing whatsoever to complain about. I got likelies to two match/low reach schools, I’m more than good.

With whatever University of Rochester is giving you financially, ask if that same package will be guaranteed all four years. They have a reputation of giving alright offers for the student’s first year and then taking that money away. I also know a few people, and I know of a lot of people, that have graduated U of R with crippling amounts of debt and are now struggling immensely.
I have a friend who really wanted to go to U of R, but when asking if her financial aid package would be renewed given their family situation would remain the same, she wasn’t given a direct answer. It looked like they wouldn’t. The package wasn’t that good to begin with anyways.
U of R is a really good school academically, and they have a lot of research opportunities for undergraduates, but they have a really bad reputation with financial aid. Sorry if you already know this.
Hi, I was accepted to Case Western with a 25k scholarship/year!
GPA: 4.13 and SAT: 2120. My intended major is mechE.
Could anyone help me find out where they show merit based scholarships? I couldn’t find anything stating awards by term under my financial aid info.
They give the merit award in the admission letter only…
Son was accepted with a $30,000 scholarship. I was somewhat expecting a waitlist, but happy with the acceptance and scholarship. 4.0 GPA, 35 ACT. The personalized not at the end of the acceptance letter is a nice touch.
For those of you who are waitlisted, don’t panic. Historically, Case has taken a lot more students off the waitlist than most of its peer institutions. Don’t panic. Just send a letter reaffirming your interest.
Is there any chance of getting Merit Aid if you’ve been wait listed?
Of the ~3000 people on the wait list, 480 got accepted last year.

Also if one uses the search feature (try it, it is useful), we see that some students last year got the following email:
"As we enter the final weekend before the National Candidate’s Reply Deadline of May 1, we have closely monitored the responses to our initial offers of admission and it appears that we will have a limited number of places available to admit students from the wait list. I am contacting you because you have indicated your interest in Case Western Reserve, and we would like to be able to consider your candidacy for the Class of 2018.
If you are offered admission, you will also be offered a scholarship of $25,000 per year. If you qualify for additional financial aid, we have also prepared a preliminary financial aid award for you, which you can view by logging into our financial aid portal at http://financialaid.case.edu/myfinancialaid.aspx. You will need your activated CWRU Network ID to login. Instructions on activating your ID are below.
Once you have reviewed this information, (and your financial aid, if applicable,) you will need to get in touch with us as soon as possible at admission@case.edu or 216.368.4450. Admission counselors will be answering the phone between 9 AM and 5 PM EST on Saturday and Sunday, and responding to email throughout the weekend.
The admission committee will also be meeting throughout the weekend, and we want to be able to extend offers of admission as quickly as possible to students like you who are most interested in becoming part of the Case Western Reserve community. Please be in touch with us as quickly as possible to let us know of your interest and with any questions you may have.
Once again, if you are interested in being admitted from the wait list and your scholarship and aid package makes it possible for you to attend, it is imperative that you respond to this email right away with an indication of your level of interest."
Daughter accepted RD last Saturday and we still have not received snail mail letter. Anyone else?
Also, one poster mentioned scholarship in snail mail letter only but others already know of scholarship? When my older daughter was accepted, we only had a snail mail letter. Don’t know which I prefer…
No letter here (Alabama)
My son just received his packet via USPS this afternoon. We are in Northern California.
I got my packet in the mail today. (Central AL)
