Catch 22 with Yale Application

Hi there. I'm a freshman at Vassar College applying to transfer to Yale College. Don't worry, this isn't a chance me thread. Rather, it's over a bit of a complex issue. Yale still requires their application to be physically mailed to them. I did this about 2 weeks ago. Because of how busy they are, they can't check the status of my application or do anything else, which I understand. However, if my application is somehow missing (say because it got lost in the mail or some other fiasco), they won't have a file opened for me. This in turn means that they won't contact me over my missing application, because they won't know that I've applied in the first place. Since they also have no proof that I've applied before their deadline, that also means that I can't resubmit my application later if it's missing, because, since they have no proof that I submitted it before the deadline, they'll therefore conclude that I'm trying to submit my application two weeks after the deadline. I definitely can't resubmit my application now; they said that if they have two copies of my application that they'll throw both of them out and not consider my application at all. Is there some way to confirm that they've gotten my application and that it will be considered, or am I just completely screwed here? Thanks to anyone who replies.

Nope… Same boat as you. I sent it over certified mail and still no update on it. I called them up today and got the same response as you. I know sent all of my other stuff in already so I’m pretty sure they opened a file for me…
I guess we just hope for the best.
BTW -were they *****y to you too over the phone?? lol

I had the same problem, I had certified mail and there was no confirmation or anything. But then I checked my bank account and my check was cashed by them so that pretty much confirms it. Check your bank account.

ahh… Check not cashed yet. I’m worried…

I’m on the same boat as you guys. I sent my application in February and still haven’t received any confirmation. Unlike you guys, I sent a fee waiver so I can’t even check to see if anythings been checked out or not. :(

Uhhh… I would call again and see what they have to say.
They cashed my check on like the 3rd so I’m good. I was really worried though.

Try emailing admissions office personnel your situation? i think they’re more qualified than most on CC to advise on what to do in your situation. (Most) adcoms don’t bite; let them know what’s going on and they will work with you.
