Catholic University of America Archdiocesan Scholarship Class of 2021

Hi! I was recently accepted into the Honors Program Early Action at CUA and am really interested in the Archdiocesan Scholarship. Has anyone in the Class of 2021 received any information whether or not they are being considered yet?

When I contacted them in December, they said the finalists would hear in early March and then have to be at the on-campus interviews in late March. This is similar to previous year threads which complained that the turn-around time for travel was very tight. That having been said, it is not explicitly stated anywhere how the notification process will work and my child has been trying to get into the Cardinal portal for months without much help from IT or Admissions (both keep referring us to the other department) so for all I know, the finalists are listed on the website! But I suspect the dates I heard from admissions in December are probably about right. Early March.

Thanks, sursumcorda. Sorry that your student has been having trouble getting into Cardinal portal too. Mine has been working, but there is not anything about the scholarship there, so maybe that’s not how they notify candidates anyway. I got my login credentials by mail soon after I submitted my application. The username should be your last name in all caps.

If anyone does find out if they are being considered for the Archdiocesan Scholarship, could you please post some stats (GPA, test scores, senior year classes, type of school, etc)?

4 years ago D received a letter telling her she was in consideration, and if she made the final cut she would have to be on campus a week later for an interview. She never heard anything else, so evidently she didn’t make the cut.

Getting the travel set up on 1 week notice certainly would have been challenging for us.

Virtual Pioneer - those students admitted at early action/early decision who have been selected as Archdiocesan nominees have already been notified. Finalist spaces have been reserved for the regular decision candidates who will hear in March. Unfortunately, it is a tight turnaround for those students to make arrangement to come to the interview day.

Sursumcorda - I’m sorry to hear about your portal difficulties. Your student should be able to initiate the password reset process from this link - https://computing.cua.edu/password/index.cfm

Does anyone know what the requirements are for getting invited to the Honors Program?

@nafmom, I don’t know what the requirements are, but I got a large Honors viewbook in the mail about a week after my official offer of admission letter arrived, so if you/your student is accepted, you might receive Honors program notification soon after.

Thank you! No luck here. I think she would of heard something by now. I called the school and they said y need an unweighted GPA of 3.8+. @virtualpioneer

What kind of grades and test scores did you have to get into Honors Program?
