CBSE Grades versus School Marks

<p>Hello</p>

<p>My High School Percentage have always been stunning ( 95%+ ) - Always highest in Class.</p>

<p>But my CBSE Class XII result was quite poor - Almost 20% dip ( 76% but still managed to top school in English and was among the top 5 scorers in Maths, Scored 30 marks lower in Physics, Economics and 40 Marks lower in Chemistry).</p>

<p>No one can say that my School exams were easier .. they were far tougher than the boards. Its true for every school in India.</p>

<p>So How can I explain this to College Ad Com</p>

<p>Partly the reason is that in India it is the fact that people don't score marks if their answers don't match the NCERT books Answer style ( The Official CBSE book ) and I never believed in Mugging up so always answered questions in my own way.</p>

<p>My Counselor is ready to write this explanation on his Recommendation.</p>

<p>Will it be enough or Will it really hamper my chances.</p>

<p>My SAT and SAT Subject scores are also stunning. ( Perfect SAT II scores in Maths LII, Physics, World History ).</p>

<p>Lots and lots of ECs.</p>

<p>I am applying to HYPS for Political Science</p>

<p>Hey there! i am facing the same dilemma. i am in a MH state board, in mumbai.
And i’ve given the SAME sat2’s as well but dont know the scores yet (will get them by dec 20 or so)</p>

<p>i could never mug up and so i have terrible school/j.c. scores but great in the SAT
plus, focusing on the JEE and all took a great toll on them… .</p>

<p>I have 90+ in my 9th and 10th and I expect the same in 12th. But my 11th and 12th half sem marks are absolutely terrible !!! As I had thought of going for the Jeee earlier , I didn’t care squat about 11th. And during 12th half sem, I had go out for a cricket commentary gig in delhi. I was always under the impression that only 10th and 12th are counted. What do I do ? :frowning: can it be covered up in explanations ? I wrote fiction , I can cook up a pretty good story :stuck_out_tongue: can it ne covered ?</p>
