<p>like i've mentioned on my other post, i am a PR of the US and am completing my high school in India in the CBSE stream.
i've done really well in school, but i believe my grades don't reflect that...
in india, we have a centrally administered public exam at the end of 10th grade and again after 12th grade, and so all a school does is gear you towards that exam - this means that the school exams are a lot tougher than the finals, and the teachers deliberately grade them strictly...
i've always got the first or second rank in the school exams, but my scores aren't that high (though I did really well in my 10th Grade finals and ended up with a great score).
will colleges realise that my school grades cannot be taken at face value?
some college websites have mentioned that they are aware of the different education systems like the CBSE, but i'd like to know what you guys think...</p>
<p>Present this dilemma to your adcom in a more professional manner and they should understand just as well as we fellow CC'ers do. However, in a selective school it may be different.</p>
<p>Place yourself in a position of an admissions officer and ask yourself this question, "why sit here and listen to this guys long story about what his grades SHOULD look like when i have thousands of others who actually have the grades"</p>
<p>Just something to think about...</p>
