CBYX, High School Study Abroad

Hey guys. I'm applying for the CBYX (Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange), an exchange that would take me to Germany next year (my junior year), in high school. It's a full ride scholarship, they match me with a host family, spend a year there, come back. They take 250 students a year, from across the USA. (Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange) for more info.

I have some general questions, involving the academic and collegiate benefits/ dis-advantages that this exchange could impact a college application. If my parents would allow me to go, I would plan on making up mixed work through dual admission, or online courses over the summer.

In other words, how much would this exchange impact my college application?

((I read the thread pinned to the top. I just don't feel a summer in high school abroad, and a full high school year abroad are the same thing))

Thanks!

Hey, I applied to the same program. I think I’ve been accepted, and I’m super excited!! Have you heard anything yet? I’m a senior this year, so I’m actually deferring school a year to do this. Personally, I think this is an amazing opportunity, and I think it’s great that you’re considering it so early.

I’m also curious how this will affect my own college options (scholarships, financial aid, honors program status, etc.), so if there are any other seniors out there planning on travelling to Germany next year with this program, let me know your thoughts.
