I'm going to be taking Chem 211 at LASC as required for my major. However, I need a full year of Ochem for my major. When I get to the UC how many quarters will the 1 semester of Ochem knock out, 1 or 2?

Thank you,

Depends on your major and which UC. On http://www.assist.org , look up your major at your target UCs to see what you need to complete at your community college to fulfill the requirements for your major.

Examples:

Chemistry major at UCB: <a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST;
Take LASC CHEM 211 and 212, then take the ACS organic chemistry exam. Score of 75th percentile or higher fulfills UCB CHEM 112A and 112B.

Chemistry major at UCI: <a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST;
Take LASC CHEM 211 and 212 to fulfill UCI CHEM 51A, M52LA, 51B, M52LB, 51C, M52LC. There is no articulation at UCI for just LASC CHEM 211.

To convert from semester to quarter units, multiply your semester units by 1.5
That should give you the amount of quarter units you currently/will have.

As for how many quarter classes a semester course will cover at a UC school, I am not sure. At UC Irvine, two semester courses is equivalent to 3 quarter classes, provided these classes are related and are prerequisites to take the next advanced course. As for one semester classes, I think it only covers one quarter class? Can anyone confirm this?

If you only take 1 semester, it will most likely only count for one class in a series of O chem and probably the lab part on the quarter system.
