hahaha aww, that sounds like ED Penn to the nth degree. Sorry it turned out like that, but hey, i think that this board is an adequate substitute...maybe not as crazed though. and I mean "crazed" in a good way!

ETA: the chat room was our way of bypassing the 60 second rule lol

haha in terms of networking with people you've never met: there was a funny article in the dartmouth (yes, i stalk www.thedartmouth.com) somewhere in the archives (i think it wasn't actually as stalkerish as it sounds- i was poking around thefacebook.com and it was in their press section) on how all of the 08s were networked by the facebook before class started, and some of them had up to 250 friends... and almost all of the girls had been friended by male upperclassmen....

http://www.thedartmouth.com/article.php?aid=2004072001050&action=print

anyway, my point (yes, i do have one) is that you never know who you'll end up being friends with, but its always nice to know you do have potential friends.

hahaha i also read The Dartmouth! mostly The Mirror and the Comics though. Adam White and Steph Herbert are hilarious...I think they're funnier than other college newspaper a+e writers. And I remember reading that one and being like "wow, facebook" lol

When it comes down to decisions time, we totally need to set up a chat room. I hate this blasted 60 second rule!

the 10 characters rule gets on my nerves occasionally...and i mean, occasionally, b/c you all know my inclination to make ridiculously long posts, usually about unrelated things! but what can i say, it's a gift

I'll have to locate my old ED Penn buddies and ask them how they set up that mIRC chat room called #Penn, because let me tell you, that thing was the shyte

does it censor it out of the word ****ake?!?!

ETA: omg, yes it DOES! jesus! it's a mushroom!!!

The Dartmouth board is becoming a little Princetonian in manner, since it seems that all of our threads turn into just fun (yet semi-pointless :p) discussions. I like it. :)

me too! but we have yet to set up three random lounges with similar-sounding names and farm posts on them till they grow to some 2000 lol

but, to add fuel to the fire: here I am, farting around the Dartmouth and Brown boards (except...not ACTUALLY farting, because ew), wearing my long-sleeved blue Yale shirt, which is a size extra small, but on my tiny body manages to even cover my a s s. that's so weird.

Yale? Blasphemy!

I demand that you remove that t-shirt immediately! Hehehe... (boyish grin)

j/k :p

why doesn't the dartmouth board set up a yahoo group so we all stay in touch through email? that takes no more work than checking email, which everyone does.

i guess i really dont know what a cc board is SUPPOSED to be like, as i lurked a little bit here and on the mit board before starting posting but....

i'm a fan of random, somewhat dartmouth related conversations, that quickly denigrate into being just random, and not dartmouth related in more than: these laidback, easygoing, friendly people could be your classmates.

LOL calidan! that was so adorable, haha. and my myspace is like entirely about my rack, guys love it

and yes i like the boards that degenerate into fun! it tells me a lot about Dartmouth people

the yahoo group would be a good idea if i actually used my yahoo account for something besides spam lol, Outlook all the wayy

lol- you actually don't look that small in your pictures! Maybe everyone in New Jersey is short...

hahaha. and you know what? random threads? are SOOOOOOOOOOO much better than those awful boring stats threads. i HATE stats threads. show of hands, who hates stats threads?

god, i do. especially when it'll be some thread about something totally different, then someone will be like..."HEY WAT ARE MY CHACNES 4 COLAGE"

ugh.

blu, what's your myspace link?

raises hand

And the D board has like NO stats threads (except for that one about the likelies, but it was started by a non-regular to the D board). Only annoyingly shallow posters do the "stats" and "chances" threads.

Except for decisions, because, well, that's for posterity. ;)

yeah, decisions are exceptions.

LMAO baby bird, i know, the stats posters just pick the thread closest to the top and put their stats in broken English begging for our opinion. as if we're experts!

i'll PM the link...don't want any snooping adcoms to get the wrong idea about me haha

yeah Cali, i think it reflects really nicely upon us that we're beyond stats. i posted mine once only after someone asked, and it's never come up again...i remember having to post my stats ALL THE TIME on the Penn board, so obnoxious.

but look around. we don't have a "compute the Dartmouth board's average SAT score" or "percent accepted, deferred and rejected ED" thread. thank GOD.

Yeah... that makes the Dartmouth board really special. No annoying "trollers" (or is it just "trolls?").

I'm so over posting stats. That is soooooooo 3 months ago.

lol. i understand that the stats posters are looking for validation but...ugh. it's just so annoying.

i just realized that i totally stormed onto this board and am now treating it like it's mine, when others have been here for like, years, or months. i did the same thing on the Penn board, i think i got like 200 posts within 2 days, and the kids that had been there forever were like "you came out of nowhere and before i knew it were my fave person on here" --> that was more a validation to me that i belonged than any "your app sounds good to me" ever could be

Well I gotta go... so I'll talk to you all later! Sorry to break this awesomeness up. ;)

Good night, east coasters! And good evening, west coasters!

haha later calidan! tomorrow, of course. :-D

ETA: whoa, nearly at 700. when'd that happen lol
