CC A.D. (After Decisions haha)

I remember in the two weeks before ED Penn decisions, we all really banded together, even made our own mIRC Penn chatroom, to get around the one-post-per-minute rule. We sacrificed our place in the #posts race to Columbia in favor of the chat....

And one topic that kept resurfacing was how, After Decisions, would we still be friends? Or would we only continue talking to the people that received the same decisions as we did?

Today I stumbled upon the official Dartmouth ED Decisions thread, and saw how supportive you all were, even when the decision wasn't favorable. People who are not necessarily welcome at Dartmouth are still 100% welcome at this forum.

So, do you think that RD will yield similar results?

And also, on the Penn thread, ED acceptees made a promise to meet at the cereal-only restaurant that just opened up in Philly, Cereality, for a CC reunion. what do you guys think, if some of us end up at Dartmouth, do you think we'll actually meet up, or maybe randomly come across each other one day and be like "hey you sound familiar..." or what? Does the community feel only apply to the forums? lol i'm just curious. since i prob. won't get in :-D

first day of school we should all wear some sort of accessory that only CC ppl would realize...o, or how about coming up with a Dartmouth CC shirt!!! :p that would be fun :D

hahaha that's awesome! I could make them lol, sophomore year I made shirts that said "I Survived Algebra II Advanced...With Choma" and sold them to a bunch of people for 5 bucks each...plus the kids who take Media Arts do silk-screens...

Or we could all get those "It's Lonely at the Top" shirts with the Dartmouth crest on the top. That shirt rocks my socks.

Hmm but we'll have to think up a good CC accessory........<ponders></ponders>

Well I certainly won't be your friend with that kind of attitude! j/k :p I will. (And I just couldn't bring myself to actually post that, so I had to asterisk it)

But to answer your question:
-I remember having the same discussion the day before Gtown EA results. We all decided that yes, we would remain 'friends.' Then the "day" came, and I got in, but many more didn't. After that, the entire forum was essentially vacated by the "core posters," and I only remain in contact with a few through IMs and PMs. For example, babybird kinda moved onto this board (and BTW I hardly ever see you in the Gtown one). No one really posts on the old boards (especially the ones who weren't admitted). It was (and is) really a shame since we all had such fun times together.

And I'd really like to say that "oh, well we're different," but are we? As supportive as this all seems (and it really is, and that makes me so happy and grateful), I have seen too many examples of this plan utterly failing on CC (probably the most famous/drastic case being the Princeton board).

But I guess I will say that we are different, since I would like to think that. And I believe that we can all see past that and remain friends (if only online) because of this wonderfully supportive structure. And remember that this mindset doesn't characterize the Dartmouth board, it characterizes us and our personalities, and that just happens to be the kind of person who applies to Dartmouth.

absolutely. with Penn, only those who were accepted stay around and lurk, and sometimes the deferrees post - mostly it's clueless RD people, with no set "core" like there is here. And yeah, the G-town board is mostly political lol. I said, before ED decisions came out, that I'd probably go set up camp on the various RD boards.

But I think RD will be different from ED. ED was in or out of THAT particular school, whereas RD, even if you don't get into one school, you'll definitely get in SOMEwhere. And yes, since I like to think that there is a general Dartmouth student - because most of the people on this board do exhibit similar traits - we'll have things to talk about regardless of whether or not we're at the same college.

P.S. <3 calidan. well said!

Thanks blu :)

And I agree- no matter what happens, we'll always have something to say, since we're all the "friendly" type.

But we really won't need to worry about that, since we're all getting in anyway. ;)

hey dan-- i did sort of migrate here, didn't I? i wasn't the only one who left though.

You know, as soon as I read the OP, I thought "wherever I go, I want the CCers to wear some sort of gaudy pin so I can recognize them" and then slicmic posted the same thing, so that was already cool.

lol or some crazy button or patch

baby- lol you migrated here just like a bird in the winter... hehe

and yes, so did a lot of people (the majority of them, actually)

I think we should all wear a shirt that just has a big "CC" on the front... how cool would that be?

haha, so cool. we'd be like the dorkiest freshmen ever...oh wait, that's redundant...

yeah i think it's a little too late for me to escape dorkiness, considering i'm currently listening to this year's Bergen County Choir CD. but hey, i love dorks, they have personalities!

Yeah..... what do you think CC is made up of? But we're all really cool! :p

YEAH we are. let's hear it for the zealous, bright-eyed overachievers woohooo lol

but i think we need a better acronym than ZBEO lol

we can be dorks, i still <3 you all. after all, what are we doing on a friday night? posting here. :)

well i have an excuse, i'm sick. Doctor's appointment and everything! but tomorrow there's a party i'm going to. NOT that there's anything wrong with a friday night on the Dartmouth board. Like we said earlier, we all applied, so we all are similar to a certain extent - it's possible that we have more in common with each other than with many of the people at our respective schools

It's only an early friday evening for me! I still plan on going out tonight, I'm just getting my CC "fix" for the day. lol

But believe me, I am no stranger to posting here on a Friday night.

lol Oral Sex: The New Third Base
CC: The New Heroin

Yeah, we kind of died, despite in the nights before decisions having crazy all-night chats and pledging eternal support, etc. etc.... Okay, scratch "kind of" - we DID die, but I didn't realize non-core people noticed. :(

Ah, well, all the more of us for the Dartmouth board! ;) And while we didn't exactly last on the Princeton board, I do think that the support of all the EDers there made those days leading up to D-Day much more bearable than they would have been. So a temporary community attitude is much better than none.

And "CC: The New Heroin" is so true.

lol would i lie?

wait, Princeton died? that's news to me...i tend to stay away from the Princeton board. the number of posts scares me haha

and yeah, i think long before i hit 1000 posts i'll be a full-fledged CC junkie

Well, we had a pretty hardcore ("hardcore CC-ers"... for some reason that strikes me as funny) group of ED-ers that were all really close-knit and supportive for the months leading up to decisions. But as soon as the decisions were out, a divide understandably opened up, and for a long time no one really posted except for RD applicants. Now it's a mix of about half the deferees combined with the RDers, and a few loyal acceptees, but even so it's still kind of hit-and-miss over there - nothing like when we were attempting to hack around the 60-second rule out of necessity. One used to be able to log on at any hour of the day and engage in a Princeton chat session (thus our insane amount of posts), but it's not really like that anymore.

:)
