Hi, I'm a senior in high school and I am wondering if it is possible to attend my local community college to get some credits over summer before I attend CSU?

Of course its possible. You must first go to the community college counselors office and let them know your situation. Then they’ll most likely give you a sheet of classes you can take that are transferable, which are likely to be GE (general educational) courses that all undergraduates are required to take.

Make sure you pick a major to work towards right away and then select a class that will count towards it. Summer courses are rough just because they are usually 5 days a week and for 3 or more hours. Choose carefully though. I didn’t know to pick a major right away and I lost a semester. assist.org was great for helping me find transferable classes for my major, and unofficialcampustours.com helped me narrow down the campuses I wanted to visit.
