<p>Is it easier to get into the FU foundation (the engineering school) then Columbia college?</p>
<p>I think it’s basically the same. The admission rates in the two colleges are identical, with Fu’s slightly higher than that of the college - but rumors have it that Fu’s students are more self-selective. </p>
<p>It really depends on your own interest, and your high school record - how strong are you in math and science? Are you involved in engineering-related activities? What’s the good studying something you absolutely have no interest in?</p>
<p>I already took classes (there not legit more for general knowledge) in engineering. I already applied to the FU foundation. Just wanted to check if i had anything going for me. guess not.</p>
<p>Columbia college has one of the lowest acceptance rates of any liberal arts college (only H,Y,S have lower acceptance rates) and SEAS has a lower acceptance rate than any engineering school apart from MIT and Stanford. Engineering students are naturally self-selective, you just don’t have semi-serious students trying their luck at engineering schools, it scares non-hardworking people away. the seas applicant pool is more self-selective so the acceptance rates alone are deceiving. SEAS has higher SAT scores and % of students in the top 10% of their HS class than Columbia college, so looking only at quantitative factors it might be more difficult to get into seas. But the admissions process is multi-faceted, so overall it’s probably equally difficult to get into CC as it is SEAS.</p>
