CC Meeting

SystemAX: so is the 23rd okay for you? Looks like we're shooting for 23rd, 2-ish.

undecided: I forgot about the Starbucks on Shattuck...that one's pretty big; might work there.

As for how to pick out CCers... short of holding signs, I suppose someone could scope out the meeting place prior to the meeting, once it's picked out, and stake out a portion of the place and have everyone meet there. Wear blue or something. :P

OR...I could wear my Stanford sweatshirt. Then there would be no confusion whatsoever.

There's also a Starbucks on the corner of Oxford and... Center, I believe, right at the edge of west campus loop, that has nice cushy seats and a decent amount of space. I haven't really gone in there, though, and it always looks busy, so it could take some dedicated shepherding to get it right.

Sure, but we like to keep the places violence free so they continue to be student friendly. :P

I don't get it...no one here likes Stanford.

hold up a giant sign that says "collegeconfidential meeting!"

Wouldn't that make me look like a retard though?

When I took summer classes at Stanford as a junior, they let us choose one of the weekly outings we took. Being high-achieving almost-seniors, the overwhelming majority wanted a trip to UC Berkeley with a tour.

The first thing they told us the day we left, with utter seriousness: "Don't wear red."

I think Stanford is more afraid of the intensity of the rivalry than we are. XD

I have no problem holding a sign that says "CollegeConfidential" in every entering customer's face in order to make sure everyone finds us. Public humiliation is for people who have a sense of dignity, and I? I date a gamer.

You may not have a problem with that, but the customers might...

I guess I can always get posterboard at Walgreen's.

By the way, anyone want to bring some games or something?

Actually, the 23rd isn't good for me, but don't change it on my account.

Buy those "Hello my name is..." nametags and put your username for CC! hahaha.

lol hahahahahahaha... great line.

commonsense, you free on the 21st?

Nope I'm not. I have a retreat for my club from 20-22. Anything other than that should be fine though. But yea.. don't worry if it's inconvenient to fit me in.. I'm just one person... and I'm sure we'll have another opportunity to meet up again.

XD I totally know how that is. I dated a gamer too!

Let's say August 23rd, 2-ish for now. Post here if you have a conflict...if too many people want a different time we can change it.

As for location, Starbucks seems a little far away, and Cafe Strada is really crowded. Any other good places around campus? I was thinking maybe a lounge in the Units but people can't get in.

You "too far away" people need to walk more. XP

I think that around campus is synonymous with crowded, but a few other options: Smart Alec's down on Telegraph has a lot of table space, though it has busy hours; the Starbucks on Oxford and Center is a bit closer than the one on Shattuck, though still west campus which might be too far away for you guys; ... other than that, the suitable places I can think of are even further away, down University.

that starbucks on oxford sounds appealing, but i have no real preference.

Starbucks has bad coffee. Bad.

I wouldn't know, I don't drink coffee. I like their hot chocolate and their frappuccinos, though.

Anyway, they're just one of the few places I know that is: 1) close to campus; 2) spacious inside; 3) unlikely to care as much if some dork is carrying a sign that says "CollegeConfidential."

I don't know of any other large cafes close to campus, barring Strada, so if it's a cafe you want, there have to be some concessions. :p

Hmm how about on campus places?.. like Bear's Lair, the outdoor patio at Free Speech Movement Cafe, or perhaps the patio at Terrace Cafe. I'm sure it'd be really nice weather that day. Those places have drinks, though maybe not as nice and as wide variety as a Starbucks or Strada.

ooo fsm sounds nice

Hey, hey, I never actually agreed to this!

Hmm I'm really liking the idea of FSM too. Their paninis are so good.
