And make sure they offer this good aid to transfer students…because some do not.

If your parents are living together, both of their incomes/assets must be listed on the FAFSA. Since they make about 6K a year between the both of them, it is not going to have any bearing on your EFC.
It’s pounds like YOU are a California resident for community college financial aid purposes…but your parents reside elsewhere. Is that correct?
Just make sure that you are eligible for instate tuition status at the four year schools.
And agree with others…you will need to use the income and asssets of both parents on YOUR FAFSA form.
Is it possible for you to make an appointment to meet with the CSU financial aid people? I think that might help you a whole lot.
