CC Poll: How Many Colleges Did You Apply To?

Hmm..well maybe it comes across as being unfocused, unprepared, unrealistic, and egotistical. But when it comes down to it, my goal is to go to a great school. With the enormous amount of applications at every school this year, that makes my goal more difficult. I applied Early Action to a few schools, one of them is my second choice. However, I did not apply early to my top school because its admissions criteria is a lot tougher for the early applicant pool. This being so, I will not know if I got into my top school that I am dying to go to until April. I applied to many great schools, and realize that though I may be qualified for many of them, I will get rejected by some due to the increased number of applicants. And, I do have interest in all of the schools i applied to. I think every person's situation is different and it's best to know you have a choice between a few acceptances, rather than being stuck going to the one school you get accepted to.

10 schools buut 8 of them are music schools

would have been 23 but I got into my first two choices EA....so Im covered!

one of my friends went ED to Williams..got deferred....applied to 23 schools over winter vacation...got accepted to Williams in March...how much does that suck??

is there a limit to how many one can apply to?

i applied to a bunch of schools that were free on common app..

11, including three in state

12: 4 Reaches, 4 Targets, and 4 Safeties

21

19...I don't recommend it.

12
One girl at my school applied to about 16

I feel so under-achieved. i only applied to 5 after i got deferred by duke

7, would've applied more except sending scores and application fees were too expensive =x

i applied to 11 schools. basically at the beginning i figured out my list.. it started with a lot more.. and then i whittled it down to about eight. i pumped out essays all first quarter and worked really hard on my academic resume...making sure my teachers knew what to do for recs blah blah blah. then once i had edited everything i sent most of them off through the common app and had about a two week window before most schools had deadlines. so i got bored and just filled out three more apps, reusing old essays. it worked pretty well... but the last three kind of were expensive. i got fee-waivers on my other ones.. so the sporadic ones actually turned out to be the wallet breakers.

also..i'm applying for theater... and i didn't realize that some of the last three needed auditions. two of them do! and both don't do regional ones either! so now i have to figure out a way to fly to florida and north carolina... my mom is ****ed

hahah oops

5, including one safety
