CC Self-Studies Computer Science

So, we have options.

1) We could spend the semester preparing for the Computer Science AP Exam (which involves learning Java)
2) We could spend the semester learning Python (which involves learning some theory)
3) We could spend the semester learning something harder than Python (which involves defying God)
4) We could spend the semester doing some conglomerate (which involves doing more than one awesome thing)

Half of those taking the Computer Science AP exam got a 4 or a 5. So...it can't be that hard. (though self-selection is a probable factor)

I might be interested in option #1 (however, I wouldn’t take the AP Exam; I’d just try to learn Java).

So how much do I already have to know about computers/programming to be able to learn Java? I don’t even know HTML at this point.

If you guys are interested and want to challenge yourselves, there’s a college level Introduction to Computer Science course (Python) from MIT on the edX site. It just started last week.

@halcyon, you don’t need to know anything

1 brah lol

Number one, though I won’t be taking the exam obvi.

1, yeah. (Mind if I jump in? Sounds really cool! :))

I would be interested in the Java Option 1 course please, but won’t be taking the exam. :)

I would like number 2, but count me in regardless.

One would be nice.

@Heather: I’m pretty inexperienced, too. My coding experience comes down to minimal web design w/ HTML & some CSS.

How do I start a new post of my own? sorry its a random reply Im trying to figure it out :)
