CCC student rejected from all UC's applied to? help!

This is my first post here because I figure someone might be able to help me out and point me in the right directions of what I should do next. This post may be a little lengthy, but my situation is a bit complicated. I graduated the class of 2012 from high school a semester early to attend a community college in fear of being stuck there for more than two years. I attended this community college for a semester along with taking a statistics course through UCLA's Extension program. During this time I was working close to full time and preparing my move to SBCC because I was able to get more classes and priority over my local community college. I transferred into SBCC in the fall of 2012 and am currently a student there hoping to transfer into a UC this fall (2014). I have more than 60 units and have completed all of my prereqs for transfer (I am a Linguistics major). The problem I am facing is that I have been rejected from UCSB for Fall of 2014 already and am in fear of being rejected from the remainder of higher ranked UC's I have applied for. I'm not sure what step to take next considering I don't want to spend a third year in community college having be the reason I graduated high school early to avoid this sort of situation. Also, I don't want to spend an extra few thousand to go through another year at SBCC to just take filler classes until I can reapply next year, it's a waste of tuition money I could be putting towards a 4 year university. Any suggestions of what I should do? All help is more than appreciated. I'm just a bit bummed out and lost at this point in time. Of course I'm going to appeal any rejections, but I always want to have a back up plan in case of the "what if's" occur.

Did you finish your first transferable math class yet? UCSB is known for rejecting people who haven’t completed it by the fall they apply or something like that. Same for the 2nd transferable English class, I think?

Maybe it would help if we had some more information. Did you have IGETC completed? Core Math and English classes completed? GPA? Major? Other UC’s applied to? It may help in assisting you if we have the full picture.

I’m curious; you didn’t tag to ucsb or other ucs? Why?

Do a UCSB appeal after the spring

An appeal works only if you have some new important information that changes everything. Because if it’s repeating whatever was given in the app, it usually doesn’t work.

@Xxcapital - for UCSB completion of the math in Spring is new important information and they do admit appeals if you have successfully completed it and there’s room

I would have assumed they would’ve known if you did list it in your application as a class you’re taking that’s in progress… And would’ve taken it into consideration. UNLESS the applicant didn’t include that in the application then of course.

UCSB pretty much auto-rejects anyone with the math IP in spring so even of they saw it they wouldn’t care until it’s actually completed

I was accepted even though my one math class and my second English class is IP. Then again, math isn’t too relevant to my major

At UCSB???

It’s not relevant to your major but it shows you are competent enough to understand the concepts moving forward in life and college

@Matt4200

Yes at UCSB. But I think my personal statements may have helped. I wrote about my personal interest in programming and some game design.

As others mentioned, have you not tagged to any of the UCs? I’m also a Linguistics major and got accepted to UCSB, though I tagged to UCSD in case. And as for spending one more year at CCC, it’s not so bad. I myself spent 3 years at my local community college because of the issue with getting classes my first year. I was frustrated at first for having to spend more than 2 years as well but in the end, that was the only option I had left. If I needed to reach the goal I wanted, I had to do whatever to get it despite not being a favorable decision. If you’re done with all coursework however, why don’t you use that one year to take a breather or find an internship/job to build experience? It’ll help with your resume. All in all, you still haven’t got to hear back from the remaining UCs so try to stay positive for now. You never know :)

You could shoot a last minute ap to CSU CI who is accepting transfer aps through 3/31. See all the campuses accepting aps here:

What was your GPA?

i heard chico allows apps year round, any others do this?

Apply to LSU
They’re still taking apps and they let you know within a week if you got in
They have a high acceptance rate so you’ll more than likely get in
