CC'ers have sunk to a new low this political season

Oh trust me, jym.

What you’re reading now is far from a “new low.” Not a single person has been warned and threatened with being banned. No profanity or cyber rage of the spit-flying variety. I’m not much of a participant on these threads, but I’ve lurked and these threads are calm, models of restraint by comparison to some past threads. (Usually closed after passions ran too high.)

LOL, youdon’tsay. Good one.

Time for John Edwards to make a comeback on this forum. I heard that he is going to be fulfilling some political discussion dates on college campuses. In some of these, he was scheduled to appear with Elizabeth.

I don’t know why CC has to turn into Politics Central. If I want political discussions I will go elsewhere

My bookgroup last Friday- turned into a " discussion of Palin", which was disappointing.
If I had wanted to discuss politics on my night out, I would have gone out with my H who is an avid listener to Air America!
( I am a " progressive" but I cannot stand that station, especially Randi Rhodes :p- do they ever talk about positive efforts anyplace or how to find out/start them? not as far as I can tell- disappointing when the left blowhards aren’t any better than those on the right )

Jazzymom-
Ewww. thats’ scary. Of course we don’t know who might have privately been warned that they are skating on thin ice. And the subtle nastiness and back-hand swipes are IMO, just as smarmy as the direct hits. I also noticed that not only are the same things being said on 5 or 6 threads (as corranged mentioned) but it looks like some people are doing little more than cutting/pasting the same comments across many threads.

Anyone notice the conspicuous absence of several posters in this thread?

Strange, Jym! The first time I posted CC told me I had posted in the last 60 seconds!

LOL corranged!! Looks like lots of things are getting scrambled lately. SO, lucky NSM gets two accolades from you!

NSM is a great poster on every thread.

Wow. Thanks for the nice words. Hugs to you all.

I have merged the various Palin threads into one giant thread.

Trinity

Thanks, Trinity, for the continuing great moderation on these boards.

"NSM is a great poster on every thread.
I agree. NSM has for years been one of the “voices of reason” on CC.

thank you Trinity!

Agreed that Northstarmom is helpful wherever she posts. What I regret most of all about the political threads here is that they are distractions from threads posted by students asking for help from helpful adults like Northstarmom.

Agreed! Thanks Trinity!

I can’t get the conservative pov in RL. I am glad I am getting an education on another perspective. I can do without blanket statements and senseless labeling however.

I love that I get to hear actual constituent of Palin’s opinions.

I think this is exactly the place for a heated, lively fascinating exchange of ideas, even political. I find I am back addicted to the parents cafe after ignoring it for a year or more and only looked at my son’s schools posts. I know where to come for educated ideas and when I was dying to know what other people were thinking after some of these “twighlight zone” moments in this election…I knew just where I would find out in a nano second. I also knew I’d get all sides covered! Just two more months and we can go back to regular fairly normal, slightly boring threads.

For God’s sake, could everybody on both sides just calm down and agree that it’s all the liberals’ fault?

Note to McCain: Keep Sarah Palin away from Bill Clinton.

“Note to McCain: Keep Sarah Palin away from Bill Clinton.”

Please merge this one too. I would think that anytime someone mentions Sarah Palin and makes an innuendo, it needs to be merged.

If that is true, swatparent, there are a gazillion other threads, including the tribute to LTS, that would then have to be merged in.

That said, there are a few that seem to have been overlooked. There was the one with one of her kid’s names in the title. And then there is the office pool thread that is another thinly veiled thread along the same political lines. I do agree though, the post above yours is unnecessary in this thread.

Y’all think this is bad? 2004 was worse. People love to talk politics–especially when you don’t have to do it face to face!
