I know that a thread like this was started a few months back, but I wanted to bring back the subject.

I am a pretty laid back person, and if I have a disagreement with someone, I don't personally attack people or their future colleges, etc. I simply state my position and give evidence. I love debating(whether that be sports related, politics, or colleges). Most CC'ers seem to be relatively intelligent and sane people. However, people on CC have gotten VERY rude and offensive lately. People are insulting others and making radical and false claims.

On The George Washington University forum, and girl was upset about being rejected and went on and on about how GW was a joke and such a horrible school. She also argued that GW rejected a highly qualified applicant due to yield. I argued that GW has no reason to increase yield because US news rankings doesn't use it anymore. Then, this punk called me an idiot.

There's more threads where people have been increasingly personal and ad hominem, but I don't feel like including them.

CC is such an awesome forum. I love being apart of it. It's just so sad that people are ruining the intellectual atmosphere and goofy/funny threads by being so touchy about things.

Definately. The old CC was much more chillaxed than these uptight fools. These guys need to let go of stress and chill. Good things happen to those who are chillaxed. Thats why I am where I am ;).

i have a guess as to why... there are a lot of new people who signed up, who don't see this as a place where you can chill and vent and ****... but rather feel the need to flame everyone so they feel better... sound about right?

Yep. I have been on these forums for what like nearly two years now. Look at the post count after the new CC got started. If you browsed the threads on the old CC I posted a lot more than now. This shows time change among people. People nowdays are just too aggressive and dont know how to just get along. It annoys me that everyone has to be PC to the P otherwise they know someone is gonna shove a 20 foot pole up their as*. Oh well.

no, I spent a lot of time lurking in 8th grade. (that's when I was 12). I posted in ninth grade, but nonetheless, it's changed. I'm better friends with people, but I can't stand these stupid debates (harvard or yale, which is better?, AA, etc.)

I didn't join in the Debate for that exact reason. I knew people would get too crazy. If any party was for sure right there wouldn't be two of them (plus any others). Anyways I came on for help with choosing a film and engineering school. I was kindly helped regardless of how ridiculous that question was. Now I think people would have been cruel and mean to me and ridiculed my choice of majors.

Plus many more people are making joke accounts. I liked what the CC forum did for people and I still try and acheive that with my answers (random joke and all). I just wish that people wouldn't go all crazy about their schools and let people speak their minds for once.

But seriously Hoo, did you really think after the last election that topic was gonna fly? Sadly, things haven't just changed on the board you know.

Even when I joined the boards (lurked from may-october of last year), it seemed a little bit "chiller." Now it seems like people just don't like eachother...

Although I have to say, the other college admissions board (off that pr stat thing or whatever) is quite worse. People are consistently rude, swear as much as possible (I guess it's a status thing...), and use every moment to put lay down some asinine comment.

On the college search forum, I help as much as I can. I help anybody I can whenever I can, as well as on the other forums, but I've encountered people who aren't nearly as friendly, and who act like they're superior because they know more
