I've been reading this stuff for a long time, but I've never posted before. A lot of you guys seem very knowledgeable about music programs, so I thought I'd ask for your advice on this.
I was accepted into these three schools for percussion performance: CCM, Butler, and University of Akron. I've taken Butler off my list, so now I'm deciding between Akron and CCM. I didn't get any money to CCM, so I'd be paying 21,000 ish a year there. However, I got a lot of money to Akron, so I'd be paying more like 8,000 there. I know CCM is a much better school, but is it 13,000 a year better?

I PMed you what little I know

CCM instate even without any aid is a real bargain as top conservatories go. Most would be over $50K before finance aid.

Still, a $13K per year difference is not small change. Have you had sample lessons from the teachers involved, visited the schools to see what the facilities and ensembles were like, and just gotten a gut reaction for the two schools? Will your parents help pay for some or all of this? If so, how do they feel about the extra $13K per year?

I’m pretty much in the same situation, CCM would cost me about $10,000 more than my other school and my parents can’t afford it so I have to decide it will be worth taking out loans…good luck with your decision!
