Does anyone know anything about CCNY's engineering program? How is it for engineering and how does it compare to Stony Brook University for Mechanical Engineering?

If you live in the city, it’s a pretty good bargain. I remember that the head of the department once said “We expect the school to become competitive in the future”, or something like that, because Cooper Union recently starting charging tuition for their engineering school ($20,000 a year). Essentially CCNY became the cheapest option for engineers in a city of pricey schools such as NYU Poly, Columbia University, Manhattan College and so forth. So for one year at Cooper, you could pay for ~3 years at CCNY (give or take textbooks and tuition hikes).

Dunno about the ranking, although I always hear people talk of Stony Brook in a more amorous light than CCNY. I imagine that Stony isn’t as commuter friendly as CCNY, though.
