CCS Profile - Noncustodial Parent

Hello.

I live with my mom because my parents are divorced.

The only information on my CSS profile is about my mother and me.

There are some colleges that want my dad to fill out a separate CCS profile.

Here’s what I’d like to know:

(1) How do I open a parent’s CCS account? The website referece to him as a student.

(2) How do I link my dad’s CCS profile to mine?

(3) Can I send my CCS profile before my dad finishes his?

(4) How can I connect my father’s IDOC documents with my account when he uploads them to IDOC? Does he need his own account?

Thanks in advanced.

Yes, he needs his own account. It’s a bit confusing, but here are the instructions: Information for Parents – CSS Profile | College Board. Here is a nice tutorial from a college: https://www.du.edu/internal/financialaid/media/documents/creating_ncp_account.pdf. Your noncustodial parent will submit their documents on behalf of you, the student - that is, within the IDOC system, they will be asked for information that allows their information to be linked to you.

Just wanted to add to the above that your NCP will not be able to see you/your custodial parent’s CSS information, and vice versa.

Also, remember that your parent filling out the paperwork does not obligate them to pay. The school does not care who pays the family contribution, as long as it is paid.
