Aniger, I’d love to hear more about that decision/ line of thought. Sounds like it could be fascinating :)

I saw a thread about UCLA vs. St. John’s.

Arizona’s one of the schools that gives a near full ride to National Merit Finalists, so I’d guess that it’s a financial safety option for the Chicago admit.

Right. A financial safety that has become unexpectedly appealing after this winter as the student longs for warmer weather and got somewhat burnt out and longs for a mellower less intense place…

Competing for a high spot on the list: Cal Tech vs. U. of Georgia

One school made headlines this year for a winning athletic team and the other for its losing team, but they weren’t lined up the way that you’d think! :)

I’m deciding between St. Andrews and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, how’s that for lack of connection?

Two Grinnell vs B10 school–Wisconsin and Illinois.

Hampshire v. RPI (although I have to admit D got WLed at RPI). But the look on folks faces when she said those two were at the top of her list before decisions were out…

Either a golfer or a beachcomber I presume? :)

OK, if RPI comes through, this goes to #1 ! :D

Hey gadad, check my thread to see my decision (uva vs reed)!

Congratulations DoinUVA! It’s a dream school for students all across the country - you’re going to love it!

I know someone who had a choice between UChicago and UFla. Only got into one match school and it cost as much as UChicago. Going to Chicago, giving up the Bright Futures at Fla. Difficult decision, but Chicago has so much to offer over Gainesville both as a town and as a school.

We’re No. 1, we’re No. 1! (Well not quite yet…)

You know, I am going to hope that the WL comes through just for this!

Pam-b: tell your daugher to look at living in the Brown Residential College at UVa (separate app. which you can find on their housing site). My S is also not quite the “norm” for UVa (Art Scholar), but right now it’s top of his schools (btw. two right now). Just wanted to tell you incase she hadn’t looked at it yet --seems to be a nice haven for quirky/artsy types.

And LOL! Yes, I remember seeing the Oberlin vs. Dartmouth thread. Love to see people thinking outside the box, but that one was memorable.

Great thread!

I didn’t see last year’s thread, or I would have posted my younger son’s dilemma -

“The Life of the Mind” or “Active Citizenship”? (U of Chicago or Tufts) He chose the latter.

Older son stewed about Harvard vs Carnegie Mellon (School of Computer Science). Computers won.

let’s add some more:

Univ of Mississippi v Elon

Muhlenberg v large state U

There was a Michigan vs. Skidmore thread recently!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I’ve got Wittenberg vs. Cornell U.

I was debating U Florida v Pepperdine U.
