CCSU or URI?

Hi! I’m currently trying to decide which university I should choose to attend and recieve my Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I was accepted into both; URI for ME and CCSU for ME Technology (because my stats weren’t high enough for ME), and their honors program. If it’s necessary, assume that I quallify for URI’s instate tuition and would quallify for CCSU’s instate tuition a year after attending (and paying for OOS). What do you think? Thank you!!

Definitely go to URI if it’s cheaper.

Thank you, philbegas!
Update: URI’s going to cost twice as much. Why should I choose URI over CCSU?

@Peculiar0Pencil CCSU has a decent reputation in New England, but I don’t think you can get in state rates after completing your freshman year, unless you will be over 24 and become an independent student, or your parents move to CT with you and establish residency.

At most colleges, for dependent students under 24 yrs old, residency is determined by the state where PARENTS reside and taxes are filed. More info from the CCSU website here: http://docs.ccsu.edu/Application_for_In-State_Tuition.pdf

CCSU’s OOS costs of attendance for tuition, room and board is approx. $34K this year, still quite high for a school which did not admit you into your desired major. What is your budget? How much are your parents going to contribute?

What state do you live in and do you have in state options as well? Are you a RI resident? URI IS tuition, r and b, are approx. $25K this year. Did you qualify for New England regional tuition? What do your financial packages for URI and CCSU actually look like?

@mamag2855, thank you so much!!! I don’t want to reveal too much, but let’s just say that you have helped me a great deal by linking me to that form! I was thinking that I’d establish residency my second year so that CCSU would become a cheaper option, but it seems that I will not be able to do that. I appreciate the help!
