Cedar Rapids or Des Moines

Flying into Omaha is nice too. It’s an easy airport and about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive straight east to Grinnell. We live in the Omaha area and regularly traveled to Grinnell for school competitions. Shop at Jordan Creek, a very nice mall on the west side of Des Moines. It’s about one minute off of the interstate. There are also premium outlet malls near Grinnell. I’m not totally sure, but I think they are East of Grinnell, about a half an hour before Iowa City.

We did most of our shopping on-line with Walmart, and they delivered the entire order to the Walmart 5 minutes from Grinnell. It was ready and waiting for us to pick up. Those items that we needed to return, were also no problem.

We flew into cedar rapids only because we got a great deal on the flight. I ordered everything from BB&B in our local store and picked up in the store on the way to the college. I also order things at walmart and had them delivered to the school. I shipped all my D clothes to the school and they were waiting for us when we arrived. Either DSM or Cedar Rapids is find. Cedar Rapids is a tiny airport and very easy to navigate.

Des Moines is more convenient because of the Grinnell Shuttle. However in the interest of cost our D used Cedar Rapids due to a much cheaper air fare deal on the occassion of a last minute flight reservation. We found an excellent personal cab service back to Grinnell comparable in price to the shuttle.
