3.62 GPA
top 30% of class
24 act, taken 4 times with 27 in math, 27 in reading, 26 in English and 23 in science (all on different tests obviously, but shows I am college ready)
17 transfer credits from my local university
Minnesota resident
tons of EC including student council, Youth advisory commission (youth city council subcommittee) President of choir for a year, link leader, tons of volunteer work including working with PTSD patients and the humane society.
I also intern at my local bank and will be shadowing human resources in the 3rd term of my senior year.
My father attended grad school though CEHD and donates a small $5 a month, and my brother attend the U in the College of Engineering.
I took pretty easy classes up until my senior year and took a few tough classes my junior year but nothing too amazing.
I’ve networked pretty well, as both my admissions councilors know my name and have met me in person.
I applied early decision and sent in a letter of recommendation from a teacher who had great things to say about me.
I’ve toured the U on 3 different occasions.(just happened to be there so why not)
Thank you for your input!
Here are the stats by college. Your rank is a bit low - what is your unweighted GPA? Your ACT, assuming that’s a single best composite score from one test and not a superscore, is within the mid 50th percentile which is good. (UMN doesn’t superscore - they will take your best composite, although they may consider the other test scores as secondary factors).

Did you take a college prep load? That also demonstrates college-readiness (as do good grades in your courses). Here are the minimum requirements: https://admissions.tc.umn.edu/admissioninfo/fresh_overview.html
The university credits will help! How did you do in your college courses?
You definitely have a shot; however, you may not hear back for a bit. To be a slam dunk, your ACT and/or GPA/class rank would need to be a bit higher.
Crossing my fingers for you - good luck!
I’m taken dual enrollment courses all throughout my senior year, and one ap/college course. I took college into to business my junior year. I am nervous about my admission because of the types of classes I took, only 1 AP, but 17 dual enrollment/CIS credits will hopefully balance it out. I forgot to add I’m active in show choir, a very demanding activity and also indicated on my application why I received lower grades in a few classes due to a business trip I attended (I applied for business and marketing education within cehd)
What’s really important is whether you’ve taken enough math, science, etc. They require 4 years of math and prefer at least to the pre-calc. level; however, my D16 was admitted to CLA last year with AP Stat. (not calc or pre calc) listed as her senior year math course so that was an ok substitute. For science you need one year each of bio and physical science with a lab experience. You also need at least 2 years of single foreign language. Even before they start looking at whether you took honors or AP or dual-enroll, they are going to look to see if the college prep requirements are fulfilled. My guess is that you have these as the MN high schools know what is needed to get into UMN.
My daughter was heavily involved in her hs’s elite choir and the musical etc. All that is extremely demanding. Your EC’s are great - they won’t have a problem with any of them.
I’ve exceeded the requirements for math, English, science, social studies, as well as foreign languages
@vikingsfangirl98 - awesome. Keep us informed and good luck again!
