celebrities at and around UCLA

seriously...

I don't know why Safin would be spotted at Wooden. There are no tennis courts in there, and if he has to work out, he has private workout facilities.

well, that was according to one of my orientation buds

Yes, seriously. I was completely oblivious about my tuttee's entertainment background & fortuitously found out by accident. I came home from studying at 3AM one morning perusing through the TV to see if there was any news on. It so happened I flipped to a channel showing a movie with the actress playing a daughter part. I did a double take when I initially saw it. I was going, "Naw, it couldn't be???" I did an Google search & sure enough it was her. I think she graduated last year with either a MIMG or Physio Sci degree.

Oh yeah, she's hawt!!!

the AZN Asian Excellence Awards at Royce Hall.

Shook hands and took pictures with Kal Penn (Kumar!) and Russell Peters. Saw Dat Phan, Quentin Tarantino, Chow Yun-Fat, Jason Scott Lee, etc, etc...

My roomie's friend was sitting in front of Tarantino during the Grindhouse premiere at one of the Westwood Theaters.

I've seen a ton of celebrities since coming to UCLA, some at events and some completely randomly. I saw Bill Clinton speak last fall and John Edwards during spring quarter, and shook hands with both. I've also seen Morgan Freeman twice, once my first and once my second year, both at speaking events. I was in Westwood with a group of friends and we met Jake Gyllenhaal, who was really nice to us. I also saw Lindsay Lohan and Tyra Banks in Westwood.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gray Davis both showed up at the same UCLA basketball game, and there was a photo online of them shaking hands, and also of them greeting John Wooden (who is pretty famous in his own right!)

James Franco goes to UCLA and ended up going to England through the UCLA Travel Study program this summer, which several of my friends went on. I'll have to ask them if the pothead rumors are true :)

But yeah, celeb sightings are part of life, and are sometimes cool and sometimes not a big deal, depending on the person and situation.

(OH, and when I was completely drunk at Spring Sing last year, I ended up getting my photo taken with Tom, the founder of MySpace, who was one of the celeb judges).

It's LA. You're bound to run into celebrities eventually.

indeed 10char

I was there for orientation the past couple of days and yesterday I spotted mr. kg near the bruin bear.

oh man, paris hilton. i guess baskin robbins is my new favorite ice cream parlor.

Kobe Bryant likes to play basketball in the UCLA gym during the summer. He was there recently in June.

safin was at wooden before the country wide classic tourney I believe before he lost in quarters or semis... I saw the chelsea team training there too...

who cares?

celebrities are whatever....

they're just people with professions that make their names well-known, its really not worth having a channel (E!), or all the attention period

do i sense some bitterness?

any ucla athletes or former ucla athletes going to beijing nxt yr for sure?

im going to BEIJING!!! dats rite!!! but im no athelete

He won't be back at SAC anytime soon. They changed the policy to no flash when players are in pick up games, and no pictures until they are leaving. However, there was a girl who started taking pictures of him straight up when he was sitting for a breather. Authorities came and told her to stop, but then it turned out to be a cussing battle.

Ever since, no cameras are allowed in SAC, and Kobe won't be back.

ist bryant gettin traded?

During Orientation 101, Hairspray had their after party at the Ackerman. We noticed red carpet during Carpe Noctum and ran through the red carpet and noticed it.

omg i was in orientation 101 but i didn't stop by ackerman during carpe noctem; we were the last group to finish!! how often are there events like this @ ackerman?
