celebrities at and around UCLA

so how often does a typical student run into celebrities? i'm not into the latest celebrities, so should i begin trying to memorize the faces of the ones who tend to be around UCLA students?

which celebrities are currently enrolled students for next yr? i hear rumors but i wanna clarify them.

It's just so random!

For what it's worth, James Franco goes here. I've seen him once.

I saw Nick Carter last week at California Pizza Kitchen? I met Bobby Lee from MadTV after his performance at one of the auditoriums at school? Seriously, you'll probably run into a few of them at UCLA/Westwood during special events or by pure chance.

what year is james franco in next fall?
ooh maybe i should just carry my camera on a daily basis lol
are students crazy around them?

eh, i wouldn't know if i met a celebrity even if i did.

i'm not sure what frozen icepit you crawled out of, but celebrities are not very interesting people. james franco was at dance marathon completely stoned out of his mind. actually, each of the twelve times my roommate saw him last year, he reeked of pot. aaron carter used to go to elementary school with my friends. he was a loser. why should anyone be crazy around them?

just learned about a new celebrity. james franco, ucla student and went to palo alto high just some miles down the street.

i grew up around celebrities and they're nothing to get excited about. most are pretty messed up!

at ucla you will most likely not see any celebrities. if you go around LA, sure, of course, you will. there are TONS OF CELEBRITIES in la, most are b actors or old news, but people still gawk.

loooooool.

and james franco is still at the school. i believe he graduates 08.

anyway, celebrity sightings on campus are not terribly regular unless you're actually seeing them in a show or something. Pacino usually comes to speak to a particular English class and if you have good timing that day you might see him walking around. John Lithgow lives in the neighborhood and walks his dog on campus rarely. supposedly lil romeo plays basketball in wooden sometimes (or played...since i believe hes playing for some school now). someone i know saw owen wilson at sunset rec once years ago. kevin smith and morgan freeman both spoke on campus recently. tim gunn and pam anderson were at the book fair this year.

but its certainly not an everyday thing and definitely don't carry a camera around or act starstruck. that's just embarrassing.

fastMEd,

Read the posts before yours. Hah.

He has a verbal commitment to USC and a scholarship in front of him, class of '08. Him playing for USC is just a gimmick - he only averaged 6 assists in HS, not stellar. He can't attack the basket or shoot like a D1 PG.

Rivals.com only lists him as a 2 star recruit. He will start elsewhere at a small school, but not at USC.

One the topic, I've seen some NBA players and former NCAA college players at SAC this summer. This first time, it was a big deal to get your stuff signed and see them up close. But after a while, when you see the basketball team eat at the dining halls and leave their trays on the table, it's not too big of a deal anymore.

yeah i dont know why i couldnt remember it was SC but i knew it was close. i think i try to block them out of my consciousness.

I played against Lil Romeo once, and see him at Wooden all the time. Tyson Chandler nearly ran me over walking into SAC - he's absolutely huge. And I went to the movies with Elisha Cuthbert once - at least I can say I did, we were at the same movie and she was two rows behind me. But I don't think it's much of a big deal. It's not like you run into famous people everyday, some can be jerks and some can be nice, but I don't get too crazy over the few I've seen. I probably wouldn't recognize most of the famous people I run into anyway, I'm sure I've seen more and just not batted an eye.

Don't think you can try to take pictures with basketball players who come to UCLA. Especially if there's a big group. If you see them outside the gym, it's when they want to get outta there to avoid traffic.

i saw baron davis and walked right next to him at orientation, he had on his golden state warriors practice jersey, and i dunno if this counts but i saw kevin love a couple of times walkin around, hes way way bigger than he seems on tv

Hmm.. haven't seen any. Franco goes here?

Bobby Lee was here??

I wonder if any other actors from primetime TV are around.

Kobe Bryant and Paul Pierce.

Yi Jianlian. :)

i met kevin smith, jeremy sisto, and luke wilson at some of the sneaks at melnitz.

saw yi on bruinwalk.

seen jaleel white (Steve Urkel) at most of the basketball games.

met Don Cheadle at the book fest.

John Lithgow's wife teaches history on campus.

saw paul pierce and kevin garnett at orientation.

i heard paris hilton regularly pays visits to the baskin robbins at westwood, and safin (the tennis player) was sighted at wooden 2 days before my orientation...

There was this actress I regularly tutored in O-Chem and Physics for a year. I found out after the fact that she was in films with Benicio Del Toro and Tobey Mcguire. I also tutored Chem to a high school student last year whose dad was the screenwriter for one of Ashley Judd's movies and occasionally teaches for Extension. Another daytime soap actress was enrolled in my Psychology class 4 quarters ago....I need to start watching TV and movies o_O
