Some of you must have noted this, especially with the crime scene tape, 10 fire trucks, police cars and other emergency vehicles, and disrupted bus routes, etc. right in front of the crossing between Newcomb / Brown and Clark / Cabell. Anyone got info?

They had some of the manholes open. My guess is gas leak or something.
Did anyone catch the water main break by Thornton last week? They dug up and replaced the pipe and there was a huge section that blew.

bah shoe, i saw that. I was walking to class and there was mud all over the place. I ended up just walking in the street and the car behind me got somewhat annoyed lol.

Lol you obviously missed the actual event. There were hundreds of gallons pouring out of the steam vent with a foot high plume, flooded the bridge completely (covered the sidewalks) and was pouring off the bridge onto Emmet. It was nuts.
Oh and a bus went through it, obviously not knowing how deep it was, and sprayed water all over these poor kids. I felt terrible for them, and followed one guy who was covered in mud/water into the e-school, listening to him rant about being late for a test.

A piece of insulation caught fire.

The c-ville firedepartment was called. By proceedure a cop followed.
Department got here and concluded they did not have sufficent oxygen system
to send firefighters into the tunnels.
Rescue Sqaud was called because they did.
Firefighters suited up, went down, resolved problem.

Entire operation is presently being packed up.

Lol I knew that you would know what went down. They had hoses all over the place and also tubing, so I guess that was the oxygen support. It's weird that a water pipe burst and then that happen all within a week of each other. I guess it's maybe the sudden cold weather taking a toll on stuff.

It was quite impressive to see! Ahh the problems from failures of pieces of engineering.

a friend of mine got a picture of fire coming out of the manhole and the UTS bus was driving by. I wonder what the driver was thinking.

I was in that UTS bus!
