Right now I'm finishing my freshman year at SUNY UB and applied as a transfer student to the CLA for economics and to the CFANS for applied economics. I already got accepted to the CLA and I'm still waiting for CFANS, but I'm 100% sure that I'll be accepted. My questions is which one of those two schools within the university has the better economics program with better job prospects, possible fields, salaries, etc and what are the differences between one and the other

baizen - I don’t know which one is best, but here are the links to the specifics on CFANS, CLA BA and CLA BS. Maybe something on these pages will help to answer your question. You might also go to the schools department of economics and then look at the CV’s/bios for the faculty.

I believe there is some connection between the UofMN Econ department and the Minneapolis branch of the Federal Reserve.

Great, thanks a lot for the information! It does clarify a lot the differences between each program. I will still contact both departments to get an even better idea.
And yes, there is a connection between the economics department and the Minneapolis branch of the fed. For what I know, a lot of students to internships and such there.
