Umm… I don’t know why everybody keeps saying Pomona is a low reach. It isn’t. In fact, Pomona is more selective that a lot of Ivys and non-Ivys like Stanford. Just saying, don’t use Pomona as a back up because you may easily be rejected.

UC Berkeley: in
UCLA: in
UCSD: in
Pomona College: reach
Univ. of Chicago: low reach
John Hopkins U: low reach
Stanford U: high reach
Yale U: high reach

^^ Yeah, I went in toured it, and it was amazing. Their acceptance rate is like %15, and their SAT ranges are on average 2200, one of the highest in the country. They seem somewhat obsessed with getting high SAT applicants over anything else, since its raised from ~1900’s to the 2200 now in just a few years.

Congratulations on being valedictorian (keep it up); I think that will help a lot. For the UCs, I think you have very good chances. For Pomona as well. For Chicago, with great essays you’ll get in. JHU is a high match. Reaches for Yale and Stanford–they’re always unpredictable.

Well, you should be able to get into any of the UCs including Berkeley and LA. However, it will be a reach to get into colleges like Pomona, John Hopkins, and Chicago. To be honest, I think you probably won’t get into Stanford or Yale, but good luck! Those schools reject people with 2300s.

Thanks for chances!
I’m not sure about the first three but Yale and Stanford are reaches as for everyone and it might be hard to get in without a hook. Your test scores for these two are bit low but in range, but you’re a valedictorian so that might kinda offset the scores.

If Pomona likes high scores as you say, you’ll need an outstanding essay and handful of luck to get in.

John Hopkins and U Chic should be matches with good essays and recs.

And, if you need little or no aid, your chances at some schools might become really good.

UC Berkeley in
UCLA in
UCSD in
Pomona College low reach
Univ. of Chicago in
John Hopkins U harder than u of c but in

valedictorian is nice.

good luck!
maybe retest sat january though?

UC Berkeley - reach if you’re oos, match if in state
UCLA - match
UCSD - idk
Pomona College - idk
Univ. of Chicago - low reach/match
John Hopkins U - match
Stanford U - mid reach
Yale U - mid/high reach

I wish I could re-test SAT in Jan. I’ve taken it three times.

The first time I took it in Jan, without looking at a prep-book, without knowing the format, or question types or anything. I got a 1900 flat, and honestly, it was a waste of an attempt.
I can’t ever bring myself to studying :P

I thought I would update this to show how accurate my chances were now that my decisions are out. I better my extracirriculars as compared to what was listed here (i.e. 300 hours of service, larger science expo, more leadership forums, etc), but it will suffice for a comparison. If you really wanted a more up-to-date list, you could find it in one of the decisions threads…

Pomona College and UCSD should be shoo-ins. Apply them.

Try applying to Stanford and UC Berkeley too. I do not really bother about the others in your case (maybe a college not on your list, like Princeton, could better ‘fit’ your good academic profile than other colleges, as they look more on grades and talent than other colleges)… They’re too random unless you really want to do really high-end research.
