Challenges for a US resident doing Pre-Med in Canada

Dear Friends, I will be graduating Dublin High School, California in 2019 and hope to get into Pre-med. I am a Canadian but did all my schooling in US. I don’t have a Green Card yet. I may or may not get Green Card in time.

Recently UBC visited my HS campus and they said that i will be treated as a local resident for admission which makes a big difference to college tuition.

Let’s say for instance if i join UBC Vancouver for pre-med, would i be considered as a regular US resident (as my parents live in USA) to take MCAT and be eligible for all US medical universities ?

I would appreciate your help.

Your personal citizenship status (not your parents’) is what will determine if you’d be considered a “regular US resident” for admission purpose by US med schools.

If you hold a green card at the time you apply to medical school, you will be considered a US citizen for admission purposes. If you don’t, then you would be considered an international applicant for US med schools.
