Challenging math question (To me at least)

If 0 < x _< 8, and -1 _< y _< 3, which of the following gives the set of all possible values of xy? PS (< means less than or equal to).

A) xy=4
B) 0 _< xy _< 24
C) -1 _< xy _< 11
D) -1 _< xy _< 24
E) -8 _< xy _< 24

(I’m not making fun of you – that was the title of the thread where this was discussed previously.)

Thanks a lot man!

Haha, just did this question yesterday,put the wrong answer but I caught myself. :-P

When you have a problem like this…do all the combinations of the numbers before and after X and Y, so there will be 4 in total…

0x-1=0
0x3=0
8x-1=-8
8x3=24

As you can see, you get -8 as the lowest and 24 as the highest, so any other combinations must be within these numbers…so I would go with E…
