Essays/LORs/Other: 2/3 done with my first draft. I honestly don’t like it TOO much but it revolves around how I fell in love with entrepreneurship from a young age and how it gave me a lot of ambition and passion towards my hobbies. i also tried to incorporate CS into it by talking about becoming resourceful through pursuing various businesses helped me become a better coder/perform well in cybersecurity competitions.

it’s like a 6/10 rn tho tbh

For LORs I have a very good relationship with my counselor, I can probably expect this to be 9/10

I also will be asking my CS/Cybersecurity teacher to write a LOR, very good relationship as well, probably 8/10

Lastly, I’ll be asking my 9th grade English teacher and DECA Advisor for a LOR, this will probably be 10/10 bc she LOVES me

University of Pennsylvania M&T Program

Georgia Tech

WashU Dual Degree Program

USC Dual Degree Program

please reverse chance me as well i’m struggling coming up with a college list

Where do you live? Are any of the public unis you are considering in state?

UCB is test blind through the 2025 admission cycle so your excellent SAT score will not be considered. Overall you look competitive but UCB MET should always be considered a Reach.

Best of luck.

Yes! I live in Georgia so I’ll be applying to UGA and GT. GT is the school it looks like I’ll most likely go to unless I get into one of my reaches (GT is good on the wallet as well).

UIUC would also be great college to apply to for CS!

What is your budget? Do you need financial aid? Most public universities don’t give much (or any) aid to OOS students?

Do you have actual safeties beside UGA and GT?

@TheWongLife UIUC is a pretty pricey OOS cost.

GT is by no means a safety. UGA, Purdue, and UNG are my safeties.

I don’t do Chance Me as I’ve only been through this process once,

We are also in GA so will share our experience. Going into last year’s admissions cycle, we thought UGA was a safety and GT a high match. In fact, early on we thought my D would be an auto admit into UGA Honors. The admissions results at her school were surprising (for us and many parents/counselors) and revealed that UGA is no longer a safety, even in state. I will say that many of the kids who were deferred EA were accepted RD, but it was an eye-opener seeing high stats kids deferred.

My D was accepted EA to UGA but not auto admit to Honors (She was accepted to Honors in the spring… but this was the “safety” she would only consider if in Honors… we were naive.). Only 2 kids from her school were auto admit to Honors, which was not in line with historical results (competitive private). She was accepted EA to GT (and a semifinalist for Stamps); however, she had the “hooks” of being female and Chem (premed), not a popular/impacted major like CS. There were several unexpected deferrals/rejections with higher stats than hers.

From other posters on your threads it sounds like you are competitive for most of your list (your stats are impressive and you should be proud!), but I wanted to specifically address your classifications of UGA & GT in state. I am glad to see your last post with UNG as a safety. Feel free to PM me if you want more info on my D’s school results in state.

Best of luck!!!

Not sure you can consider Purdue a safety, it’s a top university and it admits by college and/or major, so acceptance rates factor in.
Doesn’t UNCC have a special College of CS and Informatics that’d be interesting to you? It’d be a true safety.
For another true safety, Augusta I think also got a huge grant for its College of Computing:
:School of Computer and Cyber Sciences

You just called GT a safety! I would adjust your scale as GT as a ~25% acceptance rate while Purdue is around 50-60% for CS. Not sure on the OOS numbers for Purdue CS.

Thank you for the insight! It is crazy how competitive it has been. Could you PM me your D’s results? It would be super helpful!!

Adding to my last post… I believe I saw in your other thread that you are in the GT dual enrollment program. Anecdotally, that may make GT a high match rather than low reach.

I’m going to call @VirginiaBelle to chime in on that as she has a current student at Tech and has been through this process a couple times.

I think with OPs high rigor and stats an EA acceptance at UGA is likely a done deal. High chance of auto admit to honors as well but our competitive private school had the same results as yours - only a couple of auto admits this year (and no late admits) even though years prior had many more auto admits and overall admits to Honors.

I can’t imagine he wouldn’t get into Ga Tech as well - 9th in a class of over 300 with fantastic grades, scores and strong ECs - but as you know there were lots of surprises this last year. Even so, and even as a CS major who is an overrepresented minority, I would feel pretty confident he would get in early action, as long as essays and recommendations are strong. He should definitely apply to UGA and GT early action.

I missed where the dual enrollment is? Is it at GT? If so that should certainly help as long as grades in those courses remain strong.

OP, you will hear from UGA during Thanksgiving Break and GT mid December so this may help you adjust your college list if needed.

You are a very strong candidate - good luck!

I’m afraid you misunderstood what I meant: I was trying to nicely say that if you considered UGA and GTech safeties due to your excellent stats, they weren’t, due to acceptance rates, thus-> attempt at encouraging you into looking for actual safeties.
For what it’s worth I do believe you’ll get into both but nevertheless, selectivity, especially for CS, makes them too unpredictable, so you really need 2 safeties that are also good for CS majors.

And the budget issue has still not been clarified( unless I missed that). Instate at Georgia Tech for CS or engineering seems hard to beat if accepted . If OP’s family is either very low income or very wealthy , that may be a different story. But GT and UGA are both great schools. Just because something may be a match doesn’t mean it might not be the best option, as opposed to pricey reaches.

Thank you! Yes I am dual enrolling MV calc and linear algebra at GT. I had no idea UGA honors had gotten so competitive.

You’re completely right, which is why if I get into GT, I think I’ll end up going there unless I get into UPenn M&T or something like that. We’re upper middle class, so just at the point where we get not a lot of aid, but at the point where it’ll hurt to fork up that much cash

Ah ok I get what you mean! I already have UNG as a safety (I have great connections with faculty there), and I’ll consider adding either KSU or GSU to my list.
