And by the way I'm female (advantage?) and Asian (disadvantage?).

I heard it's REALLY hard to get into EECS at Berkeley, but I'm hoping that at least being female will give me enough of a chance to at least try. Am I right in assuming this/do you think I can get in? Or do you think I should just apply for an easier major (like regular computer science)?

Being Asian has no impact in admissions at Berkeley. They are required by law to admit without regard race. However, it would affect admissions at private schools. I’m not sure of the impact of being female. I know that at private schools it’s a big boost, but I don’t know how it can be viewed at a state school.

I’d say you have a great shot regardless, especially if you can get that Math II score up.

uh, actually males have the advantage over females (haha!)
and yeah idk at all abt berkeley. good stats tho :]

Are you sure? Why would that be? I’ve heard from tons of people that girls have the advantage because so few girls choose that major (and pretty much any engineering in general) that they try at least somewhat to actively recruit/accept more females.

You are correct, but I’m just not sure how that works at a state university. Applying to engineering at privates? Yes.
