I wrote an awesome essay about reconciling my latin-american identity with my modern feminist one even though latin-american culture is intensely sexist. I also have a ton of EC's which include political activism and mock trial related activities. the more important ones include:
-Editor of school yearbook
-Mock trial head coach for my region's chapter of the National Hispanic Institute for 3 years
-Food Not Bombs worker over the summer
-Secretary of Spanish Honor Society

I've had some of my art published in school publications and photographs hanging in our front office (that probably doesn't count for anything..just throwing that out there). I also have about 500 hours of community service.

I'm a Hispanic girl living in south Texas, fluent in Spanish (obviously), and a first-generation American. Chance me!

waves I'm also applying, so please take my comments with a grain of salt..
You seem like a really great applicant, and the only weakness I see is the 3.7 GPA. Your SAT scores are below the range (don't worry, mine are too), but as a hispanic they should but less weight on it. Your EC's are okay, but they look like everybody else's ECs, minus the Food Not Bombs thing (very cool btw).

You seem a little bit like me with the political activism and kind-of artsy thing going for you. Good luck!

raises green flag ^O^ go girl go! i think you'll be great. you seem really sincere and not arrogant at all (XD not very common among high achieving ppl) i'm an artist too :) what's your special media?

i don't know. i didn't study! my parents are immigrants so i've heard spanish all my life..but i guess that counts as 17.5 years of studying for it! ;)

-AP Art History
-Dual Credit English (this is known as the absolute most difficult class at my entire school by FAR. our teacher is extremely intense/awesome. too bad Harvard doesn't care since the course itself is from a community college, ha)
-AP Eco/AP Gov't
-AP Spanish 5
-Honors Yearbook

there weren't any advanced science or math classes I could take this year (wouldn't fit into my schedule). and last year my counselor suckered me into taking physics instead of AP Bio II or Anatomy with the only good science teacher on campus. i feel like that makes me kind of a weak applicant.
