I plan on majoring in chemical engineering. Chance me for:
UPenn, Rowan, U of Rochester, RPI, Stevens
I'm also considering applying to Columbia or Cornell but I know that's a stretch for me.

Don't be afraid to be mean, I can handle it:) Thank you for your time!

Bump 10char

No need to be mean, you are a competitive applicant. R.P.I. is too competitive to be called a safety but I think you will get in there (800 Math will get their attention). You have the stats to look at the Ivies, its just that they have very low acceptance rates so sometimes even very strong students get turned away.

I don’t think you will have a problem at Stevens.

By the way I did EE at RPI. It’s an awesome engineering school.

That’s what I thought about the Ivies. I don’t think it’s insane of me to look at them but I know that there are people who are more qualified than me who are turned away every year. Penn seems to accept a lot of people from my high school so maybe that’s a good sign for me though.

How did you like RPI? Beyond the academics, I mean. Did you enjoy your four years there?

^^^

Yes and no. The deal with R.P.I. is that it is a hardcore engineering school with a heavy workload. I did squeeze in some time for parties, played intramural basketball, etc. but the academics ate most of my time (as I expected going in).

The campus is quite beautiful although Troy itself is not.

It seems that RPI has made efforts to enhance the student experience in recent years. I hear that many current students spend a semester abroad. They also built a new Experimental Media and Performing Arst Center as well as a new $100M athletic complex.

If you are really interested in Rensselaer you may want to drop a thread in their forum to get perspective from current students.
