Chance a Jr... yea I know... I just got some scores

<p>Hi Im a Jr. from New York
White Male
My school only offers AP's for 11 + 12 so I can start taking them this year. From 6-9th grades I missed a lot of school due to a medical condition which is resolved and no longer an issue. But because of it my grades suffered. Although since sophomore year, I have been getting straight A's.
Have Legacies at Princeton and Amherst...</p>

<p>ACT:32 (I get extra time for medical condition but I did not use it on this exam so I am expecting a higher score on the next testing session)
PSAT:209</p>

<p>My NY Regents grades have been:
Earth Sci: 95
Bio: 93
Math A: 92
French 1 98
Math B: 93
Global Regents: 96
Chem regents : 95</p>

<p>9th Grade
French 2- B
Biology- B+
English 9- A-
Global I- B+
Math A/B- B
Art 1A - A+</p>

<p>10th Grade
Chemistry: A+
Global II: A
French 3: A-
English 10: A+
Math B: A-
Health: A+
Art 1B: A+</p>

<p>Jr. Year Courseload (with 1st quarter grades)
AP Bio: A-
AP US History: A-
AP English Language: B+
French 4 honors: A-
PreCalc: B ( i know...)
Psychology: A-</p>

<p>And in 12th I plan on taking
AP Chem
AP English Lit
AP US Gov
Physics Honors
Calculus AB
French 5 Honors</p>

<p>EC's (kinda weak): Volunteered for 3 years at a preschool camp
Summer Internship in a Recording Studio
Academic Challenge Team, Key Club, Film Club VP, Volunteer Ambulance Corps EMT, Volunteered at a local Hospital for 3 years now. Varsity Golf Team (Jr year and Sr. year) National Honor Society
And this summer I got an internship in a Neuroscience lab where I am doing research</p>

<p>My essay will be amazing focusing on how my illness was what made me want to get into medicine and how after I got better I first saw what i could do...
I am not sure where it is I would like to attend, partially because I havent started looking, but when I do choose a huge plus to me would be a strong Science/PreMed program.
Currently I decided I would just be looking at my chances at : Princeton, Duke, Brown, JHU, Tufts, Cornell, Northwestern, University of Penn, UC Berkley, Stanford, University of Chicago, Washington University in St. Louis and Carnegie Mellon
Also anyone who knows of any schools with good Pre-Med/Science Programs that I didn't list and would be kind enough to list them I would be extremely grateful.
any advice is appreciated</p>

<p>Thanks again</p>

<p>Oh i forgot to mention that I got a 10 on the writing and my school does not rank.</p>

<p>damn, good stats</p>

<p>Eh, low grades and only so-so ACT scores w/ weak EC's.f</p>

<p>I'd say really try to improve your grades or you'll probally have little chance at top schools</p>

<p>And p.s. if you're aiming for the pre-med programs at those schools, you hopefully should try to get A+'s in all your courses from now on...those programs are competitive to the death, and sorry to say, currently you wouldn't stand a chance against the legions of valedictorian 2400' scorers who have won national awards applying for those medical programs. They are truly competitive to the death.</p>

<p>As I said, I took my ACT's without extra time and i have horrendous ADD as well as other issues, so my scores will go up a lot</p>

<p>bumpp anyone?</p>

<p>i hate people who do well above average and ask for/get extra time.</p>

<p>Excellent stats. I'm just curious, but what Neuroscience lab did you get the internship in? Did you apply for the internship by submitting your own research? Thanks for satisfying my curiosity! )</p>

<p>Princeton: High Reach
Duke: Medium Reach
Brown: High Reach
JHU: Medium Reach
Tufts: Low Reach
Cornell: Low Reach
Northwestern: Medium Reach
University of Penn:
UC Berkley: High Reach (but only because you're out of state)
Stanford: High Reach
University of Chicago: Medium Reach
Washington University in St. Louis: High fit
Carnegie Mellon: Fit</p>

<p>If you really want a great pre-med education, you might want to look at some LACs.</p>

<p>yea, you have some time to improve, dont need to panic..... but time flies, and itll come by quickly</p>

<p>@Mathwiz - Im sorry you fell that way, I could get into an entire argument but I won't because in my experience many people who are against extra time will not listen to reasonable arguments so I won't waste my time, I will only say that yes while I did get a 30, why should I not be able to perform to the best of my abilities. By taking the test without extra time I was clearly hindered so why is it that you hate people like me? Just wondering...</p>

<p>And @ ohprettypetals I work in a lab at a Hospital/Med School in Manhattan, if you want specifics I would love to discuss it just in a PM if possible. I did send in some original research before asking but I will go into depth in a PM if you would like.</p>

<p>@NewEngSocSciMan: As I said I am not very familiar with the various programs at some of the LAC's... one of my parents when to Amherst and my aunt went to Swarthmore but that is really the extent of my knowledge so any advice would be much appreciated... </p>

<p>Thanks for all the chances and please keep em comming!</p>

<p>get some safeties</p>

<p>too many top tier colleges on your list</p>

<p>Yea... I figure I always have the SUNY's but I am not sure what other schools would be considered safeties for me at this point...</p>

<p>bumpppp anyone else</p>

<p>soo its bump time... anyone???</p>

<p>you got a 32 with ADD? i feel retarded :(</p>

<p>does the stock market close an hour later for people who need extra time? no will an your boss give you extra time to finish your assignments? no. so people should get used to trying to finishing tests in the same time everyone else does</p>
