Chance a junior! Aspiring Ivy Leaguer. :)

List: Harvard (EA), Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Dartmouth, Columbia, Rice, UChicago, Johns Hopkins, Rice, state university

Please give me a better idea of where I stand and if I should adjust my list to accommodate some different schools. I really loved Dartmouth and Harvard during my visits this summer, so those are my top choices. Harvard's my #1, for reasons other than it being Harvard. :) I understand that chances vary tremendously on other factors as well, such as essays, but wanted to have some insight to the statistics portion of my application. silverturtle's chancing tool said 85% but I found that surprisingly high.

Write solid, interesting essays and you should get into all the schools you apply to. You have the grades, the test scores, AND the EC’s to get in anywhere you want to go- which is extremely rare. But then again, admissions is so random you never know. Good luck!

very solid applicant should have a good chance in each school

I think you have a REALLY good chance at the schools you mentioned.
Chance me please? Thanks.

@Dudewheresmycar - do you really think so? I don’t mean to seem like I’m fishing for compliments or anything, but I’m pretty surprised that you think I have a solid chance at all of them. Do you think I should add any more matches? If so, do you have any suggestions on what might be a good fit?

@andrewsun1994 - Chanced you back! I’m not too experienced with chancing though, fyi. I’m a 1994’er too, though my birthday’s in December. :)

bump bump :)

Rice in
Rice - not sure since you have it twice
JHU in
U Chicago - probable

Everything else Ivy - crapshoot.

Good chances at all of them, but to say “you should get into all of them” (as Dudewheresmycar said) is a little too optimistic. Everyone who applies to HYPS has amazing stats, and while you certainly have a competitive chance, it’s misleading to suggest that you have more than a ~15-20% chance (still better than average of course) at each of those absolutely-top-tier schools.

cookie cutter Ivy application, impeccable stats but as the above posters said even with perfect stats the ivys are a crap shoot. Id be willing to bet you get into atleast 2 if you apply to all of them,

Haha, I’m a cookie cutter applicant? I always thought those were more of the math/science bowl/olympiad people. Is there anything that I can do to better distinguish myself from others? (Apart from essays and such, that is)

Thanks for the input; I would appreciate further comments.

I’ll be frank… your chance is just as good as others with very similar statistics and strong ECs (but different areas of course). One of my good friend’s brother was rejected from Harvard and he graduated with 4.85 GPA (went to accelerated middle school and high school and started APs freshman year) and 2400 SAT. What was probably his biggest disadvantage? Asian male from California with wealthy parents. Schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, CIT, etc. are always reaches for everyone. No person has a good chance at them because you simply don’t know what’s going on in their head and why they say no to other equally qualified candidates. He was also rejected from Princeton but was accepted to Yale, UPenn, and Columbia. He ended up going to UPenn for Wharton.

I can tell you this.
My HS have sent many students to Princeton and Caltech.
Almost all of them were females (including many Asians) who wanted to study science or engineering. You have similar stats but you have something that none of them had. INTEL FINALIST!

It is a good thing that you are a feamle in this case. It is a different story for an Asian male.

Academically near perfect but the EC’s aren’t really unique enough for Ivies. You obviously still have a good chance though, and I’d assume acceptance into the non-Ivies, but the Ivies might be a reach especially without a hook.

If you’re doing Calc BC, why the hell are you only taking IB Math SL? You should be able to handle Math HL no problem.

I am taking Math SL independent study this year with plans of taking Calc 2/3 next year. Although I may end up taking AP Stats, depending on my schedule.

Great stats, i think you have a fantastic chance! I agree with Praying4Luck, try to have extracurriculars that are much more focused on a particular “theme”.
