Chance a junior for the honors college?

<p>Stats:
African American Male
Freshman Year GPA: 3.5
Sophomore Year GPA: 3.5
Junior Year GPA: 3.8 (so far)
Senior year GPA: unknown...hoping to make a 4.0
SAT: As a careless sophomore, I took it and got a 1670...taking it this year again of course and hoping to get at LEAST 1800 or 1900.</p>

AP World History
AP US History
AP US Government and Politics
AP English Lang & Comp
AP Macroeconomics
AP Microeconomics
AP English Lit & Comp
AP Environmental Science
AP Human Geography
AP Calculus AB</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
Student Ambassador (junior and senior year)
National Honor Society (might run for VP next year) [junior and senior year]
African American Leadership League (junior and senior year)
Copy editor for newspaper (junior year)
Student Improvement Team (sophomore year and junior year, President of it senior year)
Literary Magazine staff (ninth and tenth grade)</p>

<p>Also, I'm recently living in a single parent home because my father just passed. Will that help significantly with financial aid?</p>

<p>I think you should get a good merit scholarship but as far as honors college I think you would need both a higher GPA and test scores somewhere above a 2100</p>

<p>beau123… test scores definitely DON’T need to be a 2100 to get in the honors college. Aim for a ~1900.
Peakie, I would suggest you take the ACT - its more straightforward. For some people, like me, it just works better.</p>
