Chance a junior? Will chance back if you ask

Hi! I'm a junior looking at the following colleges:
Lehigh University
Rose Hulman Institute of Technology
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Georgia Tech
Carnegie Mellon University
And some really tough schools that I figure the odds are really low for (MIT, Cornell, Princeton, etc)

I'm looking for chances of getting in, not for getting aid. Also, recommendations for new colleges to look at would be nice (I don't have a lot of "safety" schools right now)!

Courses:
Freshman:
Honors Geometry-A
Honors Earth and Space Science-A
Honors English I-A
Honors Global Studies-A
Orchestra-A
Honors Spanish II-A
Health-A/Gym-Pass

Sophomore:
Honors Algebra II-A
Honors Biology-A
Honors English II-A
Honors CWS-A
Orchestra-A
Honors Spanish II-A
Computer Science-A
Family consumer science-A/Gym-Pass

Junior:
Honors Analysis (Trig and precalc)-A
Honors Chemistry-A
AP English-A
AP US History-A
Orchestra-A
AP Spanish-A
AP Computer Science-A
Junior writer's workshop/gym-Pass

Senior (classes I signed up for):
AP Calc BC (will dual enroll in a calc class for the summer)
AP Physics
AP Chemistry
AP Psychology
AP English (lit)
Orchestra
Honors engineering
Gym

My school doesn't let freshmen and sophomores take AP classes, but if it did, I would definitely have taken them.
My intended major is computer engineering/compsci.
GPA: 4.0 weighted
Rank: school no longer ranks, but freshman year I was 7/300.
SAT: 2160 (690 CR, 730 M, 740 W), not the best
SATII: Will take in June, hopefully 700+
Ethnicity: Asian (Chinese/Thai)

Extracurriculars/Activities:
Forensics/speech and debate (all 4 years)
Computer club (11th, 12th, president and founder)
Chamber Orchestra (10th, 11th, possibly 12th if I don't make the honors class)
Piano lessons (1st-12th)
Dance lessons (pre-school-12th)
FIRST robotics (11th, 12th)
Recreational soccer (2nd-6th, 8th-12th)
FBLA (10th)
Volunteering at community house (10th, 11th, 12th)

Honors/accomplishments:
Member of the NFL, distinction (National forensics league, not football)
Qualified to forensics national tournament (9th, 11th)
Placed at computer fair (2nd web design 9th, 1st web design 10th, 1st programming 11th)
Played the piano at Carnegie Hall through a music teacher association audition (10th)
Qualified for PMEA districts orchestra (10th, 11th)
Qualified to states for FBLA (10th)
Member of NHS, NSHSS

Assuming I write my essays well and get decent teacher recommendations, what do you think?

I think you could get in to most of the schools on your list but Carnegie-Mellon and the Ivies would probably be a stretch until you raise your SAT score a bit.

Those are tough schools, but you have excellent grades and decent ECs, so if you apply to all of them I think you would get into several. With a better SAT score, your chances would only go up?

Good luck!

wow, just wow. great academics, great extra curriculars, just need to work on your SAT score and you definitely have a shot at the ivies. for engineering, check out university of illinois urbana champaign, great engineering program and it will be a great safety for you!

ivies- reach (for everyone)

CMU- high match/ low reach (SAT is a tad bit low)

Rest: IN!

get the SAT up a bit and you have a good shot at the Ivies, but you are a shoe in at the others. All of those schools look like good targets except Carnegie Mellon might be a bit harder than the others, although you still will have a good shot.
Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1316495-what-my-chances-getting-into-these-schools.html

how come everyones school as 100 honors classes, even honors lunch and AP study hall? mine barely has 8 honors and 8 APs.

chance me please?

Thanks for the replies so far, I really appreciate it! I actually toured Lehigh today and loved it, so it’s nice to know that there’s a college I’d like to go to and have a good chance at.

And NASAman, yeah it stinks that school curriculum is so different. I know one of the schools in my area only has 4 APs and none in sciences. Hopefully when I get older I can campaign for equal opportunity education.

All those schools look good. Only thing is that the IVY leagues are always unpredicatable, people in the past have told me that Ivy leagues reallllly look for strong extracuriculars and a good essay when applying to them.

Nice Stats! Your in First too? Thats awesome :D

Thank you for chancing me, by the way! I would say if you retook the SATs once more, and score in the 2200 range, you’d be in to all but the ivies. You actually have a very solid shot at Cornell, and the rest are reaches, but all ivies are reaches to pretty much everyone, so don’t worry about it. CM is probably more reachable then you think, but only with a 2200 =)

chancing back thanks for the chance! ur gpa is amazing and you have a very good courseload under your belt. also, ur ecs are very good and youve shown both passion and commitment. i think that if you keep up your grades and get really good recs and essays, youre def in to all the schools you listed and cornell. ivies are hard but u have a really good shot at cornell

you are in really good shape! I guess you could retake the SAT’s but your scores are great as is, I don’t think a 2200 will make too much of a difference. The ivies are reaches for everyone but you should get into at least one, and CMU is a low-reach (you have a good shot!) everywhere else you are in!
Chance me back please?
