Hey, I am a male Chinese-American junior in a public high school. I'm obviously looking to go into engineering, so here are my stats:
GPA - 95% weighted (3.6-3.7 unweighted)
Rank - My school does not rank, but I am in the top 10% of the class
Courses:
Freshmen year:
-Only 1 honors (geo), every grade was an A
Sophomore year:
-6 honors (2 of which were semester long courses)
-got Bs in H French 3 and H English 10, all others were As
Junior year:
-2 honors (both semester long)
-4 APs (physics c, lang/comp, comp sci ab, bc calc)
-got Bs in physics, lang/comp, bc calc, french 4
-rest were As
Senior year tentative schedule:
-1 honors (chem)
-4 APs (bio, lit/comp, french, stats)
This is excluding all the electives I'm also taking obviously.

SATs: Math - 760, CR - 670, Writing - 710

Extracurriculars:
physics olympics
JETS
NHS
piano (3rd-ongoing)
orchestra(4th-10th)
25+ volunteer hours as a teacher's assistant
had an essay published in Creative Communications
starting ballroom dancing over the summer, as well as some more volunteering

Schools:
Cal Tech
Cornell (CoE, Early Decision)
Carnegie Mellon (CIT)
U. of Michigan
Georgia Tech
Penn State
Bucknell
University of Southern California

So what do you think? My number 1 is Cornell, and Carnegie Mellon is my number 2. Will having so many Bs my junior year have a negative impact even though I took a rigorous schedule? I will also be doing Advanced Topics for Calc and Comp Sci, and Independent Science Research, so next year I will have triple maths and quadruple sciences. I'm also worried about my ecs cause I don't have any leadership positions and it's kind of too late now. Any suggestions for other colleges I should look at as well as what I can do to boost my chances will be greatly appreciated. And don't be afraid to be brutally honest. Thanks!!
