All A's except for freshman year when I got a B in honors english. I will probably get a B in AP English Lit in my senior year. (same teacher teaches both classes and she's really tough)
Class Rank: 8 out of 202
Weighted GPA: 12.0444 (out of 12)
I have taken and am taking all my high school's honors and AP courses. Since there were no more advanced classes to take, I am taking a college class at a local community college for dual credit.

I also took 4 ap tests in my junior year while only have 1 ap class.
AP US History: 2 (had a horrible class for this. teachers did not teach anything, and i decided not to self study for this one.)
AP psychology: 5
AP US government: 5
AP Computer Science A: 3 (received a 3 because did not study and only wanted to evaluate skills in Java that I learned from my high school programming class.)
SAT:
Math - 770
Writing - 570
Reading - 610
I'm going to retake the SAT, and this time I've studied my grammar and vocab and taken many practice tests. I'm hoping I can get somewhere in the 700s for writing, and I'm hoping I'll break 700 for reading.

SAT IIs
math level 2 - 800
chemistry - 730

Pretty good rec letters talking about how I overcome adversity.(each evaluator has seen me go through different situations of adversity)

Hook: my father has a mental illness, and we are relatively poor so I've written about the stuff we endured as a family, and how I came out of it stronger. Plus, I've mentioned in some applications that I intend to write a book about my mother and father because they have a pretty amazing story, and my father's life is kinda like the movie, A beautiful mind. I think my family situation can help make me diverse from the other applicants.

For those of you who have read this, thanks and please give me some feedback!

I’m straight out of the LAC scene, so I don’t know too too much about any big name colleges, but I applied to UC Berkeley as well! (I actually found this thread trying to do more research on Berkeley stats.) I can’t say this for everyone, but people that have been through a lot, generally have a greater capacity for fEeLiNg and if they aren’t broken by their experiences, are wonderful resilient people. i think your essay can do a lot for you. your ecs are really interesting, and it looks like you’re taking full advantage of the platter your school has to offer. i’m gonna have to say that your sats are on the weak side. or, i mean… very tilted. almost… too tilted. but your sat 2s are naaice. dunno if this would be your thing, but you might try bowdoin in maine. it’s testing optional and really rich and one of the LACs that can actually do science, haha. being from the midwest will definitely give you a leg up there, and you don’t have to submit a test. BEST OF LUCK KIDDO! i’m rootin for yah!

p.s. read some nietzsche-- he was not a nazi!
