Your test scores are above average and your ECs seem to be good. Your grades are average/below average but you show an upward trend. I’d say more than likely in.
P.S. you might not want to talk about Pomona when you apply to the UCs (see first line of your post).

His GPA is nowhere near average! The average admitted student has an UW GPA of 3.85 and a W GPA of 4.35. With a W GPA under 4.0, I would deem that “marginally acceptable”.

Your SAT is excellent but your GPA is quite low. You are by no means a “lock”. I would give you a 50-50 chance of being admitted. Work on your personal statement. Some say Berkeley is more forgiving of blemishes on an application.

Well, since you’re not in Key Club…just kidding.

I think you nailed it pretty hard. I think you’re in for sure, considering that I don’t think UC’s look at your freshman grades haha. Just make sure you “A” out your senior year and I think you’re good!

No they don’t look at your Freshman grades, but they also have their own way of calculating GPA so your B+ would be just a B and they max out the number of AP classes that they count.

I honestly don’t know your chances since I’m also applying, but good luck.

You’re in a good position since freshman grades aren’t considered. You should recalculate your GPA to a UC GPA and put that up. By the looks of it you should be fine.

My dad’s been working in CA for a while, I’ve already checked out all the residency req’s and I’m good. 6 month residency period for a permanent U.S. resident, by the time I get out there, I will have been there for 7.5 months prior to college acceptance.

UVA is a very prestigious school as well, and you’ll probably have a way better shot at getting accepted there than at other oos public unis. I assume that you’re coming to california to live with your dad?

well whatever happens i hope you can get the residency situation set up and get into UCLA!

Well my parents are going be a country’s lenght away from me, and they don’t feel comfortable with that.

While my confidence regarding getting into UVA is much higher than UCLA, I sort of have to go to a CA School, which I’m not really bummed about, because CA has some awesome schools.

I will keep this short and simple. I am applying this november. I finished all 6 honor classes for TAP. Using my gpa for fall applications, I will be submitting a gpa of 3.84. I am a science major and the three majors I wish to get into are: biochemistry, neuroscience, or biology. In terms of my EC, I have volunteered at Orangewood Children’s Shelter, Pomona Homeless Shelter, and I am still working in the hospital for some experience. HOWEVER, by the time spring comes around, I will only finish CHEM 51, meaning i won’t have one semester of organic chemistry. But I completed all my math requirements as well as biology, and general physics. The only thing that is worrying me is the fact that I won’t be able to finish even ONE semester of organic chemistry…which really doesn’t make sense to even take one semester of organic chemistry at a cc in spring 2011…I have been at cc for 3 years now…due to science classes being filled up rapidly. Chance me please
