No peace of mind for you ^^. Also how the hell does 3.6 UW translate to a 4.43 UC GPA ?! Sounds like Orc Mischief to me.

i did it on the UC calculator I swear!

I’d say you are a high match/low reach, based on your ACT score. You might be a stronger match at UCSD, UCD, and UCI.

2012 Application stats:

UCSD - 76,000
UC Berkeley - 77,000
UCLA - 91,500

Good luck.

I’m screwed lol its cool

Read your first post again. UC system is not a Common App school. They also don’t take any recommendations. Are you sure you’re applying to UCLA?

By the way, another fun fact:

Ave. time a college admissions counselor spends reading an application: 20 minutes
Ave. time a UC college admissions counselor spends reading an application: 6 minutes

I’d say you have a decent shot assuming your grades are on a steep upward trajectory, and if you made a strong case with your essays.

You could still get in ofc… your scores are around their average !

i did apply to ucla, via their application sorry i copied it from one of my common app chance me

On a (much) more positive note, the fact you are OOS is probably going to help you. Berkeley said they are trying to raise the number of OOS students from 12-13% last year to 20% this year as a way to deal with the budget cutbacks coming out of Sacramento (OOS students payer higher tuition). I don’t know if it’s the same for UCLA, but I would imagine the trend is similar even if the target is different.

bump…

Hey I got a supplement request long time ago but in all seriousness I don’t have a chance ! RIGHT?

lonelybottles, OOS is still a disadvantage and it always will be. As a California state public school, they give the advantage in admissions to in-state students then OOS students. Yes, OOS students are getting more of a chance nowadays, but it will never be better to be OOS than in-state.

You did something wrong with your GPA. First, your UC GPA should always be equal to or less than your weighted GPA. Not greater than your W GPA.

Second, your UC GPA is wrong unless you took like…2-3 classes per year, not semester. I’m 100% sure your UC GPA is wrong, if your regular GPA actually is a 3.6

Third, you have a pretty good chance to get in. Your stats and extracurriculars look solid. You should redo your GPA part. I know for sure something there is wrong.

Hey,

I think you have a decent chance, the only thing holding you back is the GPA…
since you are OOS it will help you b/c UC tend to accept OOS more so that they get more $$ from you… Your EC’s are great!

Good Luck!

@Cupid22, actually no. No matter what the turnouts are, they will always accept more instate students. While it is true they are trying to accept more OOS than previous years, the amount of In states will always be a lot higher. The reason for this is the students that matriculate at the UC’s will usually be instate, since most out of state students don’t actually go to the UC’s because of the distance and cost.

@AceAites, “You did something wrong with your GPA. First, your UC GPA should always be equal to or less than your weighted GPA. Not greater than your W GPA.”

Actually no. If you take community college courses, they are not weighted into your High School GPA, but they are weighted into your UC GPA. Also, if you get a B in say, health, a course that is not part of the UC A-G requirements, but is a high school requirement, then that will affect your High School GPA but will not be factored into your UC GPA at all. It is very, very likely to have a higher UC GPA then High School GPA. Plus, the reasoning for more of a chance for an in-state applicant is because our parents have paid state taxes that were geared towards providing in state applicants with a chance at an education in California. It makes sense to accept the people who have annually paid for the school system their whole life xD

I think you have a pretty good shot, but I will not be surprised if you do not get accepted. You are a Learning Disabilities student, so if you got that supplement and filled it out thoroughly I think you can get in. It looks like in order of strength to weakness it goes, Community Service, Extracurricular, GPA (Depending how accurate it is?), Test Scores [I know for privates you can do sat I’s+II’s OR ACT, and you have no SAT and 1 subject test. You also did not put your AP scores. The classes you actually took towards meeting the A-G req.'s will also be a factor i believe :] Good luck!

All a’s first semester of senior year (5 ap’s) and yes I got a supplement and filled it out to the best of my abilities
