Chance a lazy and cynical guy with a beard

My title it true, to begin with.

My HS is about average as you can get. It sends about one student to Notre Dame (I'm in Indiana) maybe once every 7 years. Everyone else goes to state schools, community colleges, or random little Christian colleges. It's a public, obviously. It's also in the middle of nowhere, so national programs and competitions are pretty much nonexistent (I had never even heard of "academic Olympiads" prior to coming here...).

I'm ranked 5/78.
My UW GPA is 3.66 (non-core classes actually are weighing it down, I don't do well if I'm not challenged. :P)
I'm taking the hardest possible curriculum my school offers.

ACT Score:

33 Composite
35 English
33 Reading
32 Math
30 Science
35 Writing (12 Essay)

ECs/Clubs (meh):

Lead an monthly program that promotes exercise at my corp.'s Elementary
Lead an after school intramural sports program at the Middle School
Spent a couple of days doing math tutoring at the Elementary
I'm a senior mentor for freshmen this year
Have had 2 lead roles and 1 major supporting role in Drama productions
Student Council Member
Spanish Club Member
National Honor Society Member
Math Science Club Member
Handful of community service hours (I really don't live in a "community" :P)

My essay and recommendations should be stellar.
Majoring in Cognitive Science or Neuroscience
I'm also applying for financial aid.

So, if you've been so kind to read all the junk above and would like to chance me, I'm interested in...

Northwestern
Vanderbilt
Washington University in St. Louis
University of Pennsylvania (just for fun :) )

Thanks?

i think you have solid chances at the first 3 of the schools - the only thing that sliightly concerns me is your low GPA, but its definitely balanced out by the fact that you took a super hard curriculum. UPenn… i think is more of a reach ^^ fairly low chances there…

Well, I wouldn’t really worry about the GPA actually, because your rank shows that 73 other students actually got lower than that.

So make sure you let them know what your ranking is.
They’ll understand that you are NOT attending an easy school.

Good luck with everything (I’m applying to Upenn too :D)

I’ve got to bump this before I shave.
